Surface high pressure ofer the Carolina coast and iday moving north through the Yucatan Channel will combine to create an increasing tighter pressure gradient over the area. The result for the area will be a strong easterly flow over the area...which will become even stronger as Ida approaches...then moves east over the far offshore waters of Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle. With an approaching system mid week...Ida will weaken...becoming extra- tropical as she moves towards the Mid Florida Panhandle.
