Statement as of 3:46 PM EST on November 4, 2009 ... Public information statement... A hard freeze occurred this morning in most areas north and west of the Baltimore and Washington DC regions. Temperatures in these areas ranged from the lower 30s to the upper 20s. Therefore... the growing season has ended for the following counties and cities. In Maryland... the counties of... Carroll... Frederick... Howard... Montgomery and Washington. In West Virginia... the counties of... Jefferson... Berkeley and Morgan. In Virginia... the counties of... Frederick... Clarke... Loudoun... Fairfax including Fairfax City and Falls Church... Prince William including Manassas and Manassas Park... Fauquier... Rappahannock... Culpeper... Madison... Orange... Greene... Albemarle including the city of Charlottesville... and Nelson. Issuance of all freeze watches or warnings... and frost advisories is discontinued until next Spring for the above locations... as well as the other counties within the Sterling County warning area west of the Blue Ridge whose growing season had ended last month. However... issuance of freeze... frost watch... warning... advisory products from the National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia will continue for areas generally along and east of the Interstate 95 corridor from Fredericksburg Virginia to Washington DC to Baltimore to Harford County Maryland.
