The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flood Warning for
the Chattooga river near Summerville.
* From this evening until further notice.
* At 615 PM Sunday the stage was 14 feet... and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14 feet.
* The river should crest near 16 feet after midnight then slowly
fall thereafter.
* At 16 feet... minor flooding continues and expands further into
The Woodlands and fields along the river upstream and downstream
from the gage on U.S. Highway 27 or Rome Boulevard.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
Chattooga County in northwest Georgia
Floyd County in northwest Georgia
Gordon County in northwest Georgia
Walker County in northwest Georgia

* until 1130 PM EDT

* at 223 PM EDT heavy rainfall has caused flooding across the warned
area. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches has fallen in the area.
Numerous roads have been closed... and are impassable. This is a
dangerous situation! Another round of thunderstorms is forecast to
move through the area. Up to another two inches is possible in
the warned area.

* Some streams and creeks affected include... Chattooga
river... little Armuchee creek and Cane Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not attempt to cross water of unknown depth... on foot or in an
automobile. Do not drive around barricades... most flood deaths occur
in automobiles. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water
begins rising.

Turn around... dont drown!

If you see significant flooding... wait until after the storm has

... Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* north and portions of central Georgia.

* Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* National Weather Service radar indicates that two to five inches
of rain... with locally higher amounts... has fallen across
portions of north and central Georgia over the past 24 hours.
Additional amounts of two to three inches with locally higher
amounts are possible through tonight.

* Flash flooding is already occurring across much of northwest
Georgia and additional flash flooding and flooding is possible
with the additional rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
