... Wind Chill Advisory in effect until 9 am CST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Wind
Chill Advisory... which is in effect until 9 am CST Friday.

* Winds... northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

* Temperatures/wind chill values... readings will bottom out from
10 to 20 below zero with wind chill values of 20 to 30 below
with a few locations to 35 below in far northern Iowa.

* Impacts... frost bite can develop within 30 minutes if skin is
exposed and hypothermia may occur if precautions are not
taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

Statement as of 15:19 CST le 26 février 2015

... Bitter cold temps and wind chills late tonight and Friday
morning...

Temperatures are expected to fall into the teens below zero
overnight... with light winds around 5 mph or less. The combination
of bitterly cold temperatures and light winds will create wind
chill values... in the 20 below to 30 below range across portions
of central and north central Iowa around sunrise Friday. Please
exercise caution when outdoors with these bitterly cold
temperatures and wind chills.
