Memorial Day weekend is the traditional start of Summer across
Missouri. Swimming pools will open... outdoor family gatherings
will take place... grilling in the back yard will become a weekly
staple... and families will be heading out on vacations to visit
outdoor attractions. While Summer can be a great time... it is
important to remember the weather hazards we also face during
Summer. Two of these hazards that missourians have to deal with
every Summer are excessive heat and lightning.

Friday... may 24... 2013... will be Summer weather safety day for
Missouri. National Weather Service offices serving Missouri will
send out excessive heat and lightning safety information in an
effort to remind the citizens of Missouri to have a fun... and safe
Summer. The media is encouraged to use this information and help
spread the word on excessive heat and lightning safety.
