... Scattered rain and thunderstorms returning to the Borderland...
The air mass over southern New Mexico and far West Texas is becoming more moist and unstable. The combination of low and mid level moisture advection from the south and a series of upper level destabilizing disturbances in the upper atmosphere will set of scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight over most of the area. A few of these storms could be locally strong and produce some brief heavy rainfall... small hail..and some wind gusts to 40 mph along with occasional deadly cloud to ground lightning. General storm movement will be to the north northeast around 10 mph. Always exercise caution near storms. Never enter areas where water is covering the gounod and seek immediate shelter indoors when thunder is heard.
