Emergency beacons can aid in the detection... location and search
and Rescue of boats... aircraft and people in distress.
Beacons that are designed for SHIPS and boats are called emergency
position indicating radio beacons. When these are activated manually
or automatically upon immersion... they send out distress signals
which are monitored worldwide by satellites.
Except for the expense of buying a Beacon... the system is free.
And for additional safe boating... some of the personal locator
beacons are designed for use in the water and may be attached to
life vests.
