... A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 515 PM EDT
for extreme eastern Greene... Scott... extreme eastern Hawkins...
Washington and Sullivan counties...

At 451 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size
hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was
located near Mount Carmel... or near Kingsport... moving northeast at
45 mph.

* The severe thunderstorm will affect mainly rural areas of extreme
eastern Greene... extreme eastern Hawkins... Scott... Sullivan and
Washington counties... including the following locations... Fort
Blackmore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In addition to large hail and damaging winds... frequent cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately! Lightning is one of natures primary killers associated
with thunderstorms. Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are
close enough to be struck by lightning.

Scott... Russell and Hawkins counties until 545 PM EDT...

At 447 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking
strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles east of
Pennington Gap to 11 miles west of Gate City... and moving northeast
at 25 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected with these storms... along with
heavy rain and small hail.

Locations near the path of these storms include... Gate City...
Norton... wise... Big Stone Gap... Duffield... Clinchport... Jasper... Fort
Blackmore... Nickelsville... Dungannon... Coeburn... St. Paul and
Castlewood.

Scott... extreme western Russell... Hawkins and Hancock counties until
515 PM EDT...

At 423 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking a
strong thunderstorm 9 miles northwest of Surgoinsville... or 10 miles
north of Rogersville... moving northeast at 45 mph.

Hail up to the size of dimes or pennies and wind gusts up to 45 mph
are possible with this storm... along with heavy rain and frequent
dangerous lightning.

This storm will be near...
Pattonsville and Okolona around 435 PM EDT.
Duffield... Clinchport and Jasper around 445 PM EDT.
Fort Blackmore and Big Stone Gap around 455 PM EDT.
Norton and Dungannon around 505 PM EDT.
Wise around 510 PM EDT.
Coeburn around 515 PM EDT.
