Showers and thunderstorms will develop again across the Northern and Central Plains on Saturday as a low pressure system continues moving eastward across the center of the nation. The system will continue pulling moisture and energy northward from the Gulf of Mexico, bringing showers and thunderstorms to the region from the Northern High Plains into the Mid-Mississippi River Valley. There is a chance that these storms will turn severe across eastern Montana and western North and South Dakotas and western Nebraska. Large hail, damaging winds, and periods of heavy rainfall are likely in these areas, with possibly a few tornadoes. This system will move relativity slowly, thus, expect flooding concerns to increase over the region.

To the south, onshore flow will persist for Texas, maintaining showers and thunderstorms throughout the state on Saturday. Severe storms are not anticipated, but heavy rainfall and problems with flooding may persist for the region. In the East, showery weather will continue for the Northeast on Saturday as a low pressure system lingers over the region. Strong and gusty winds will also continue as this system slowly moves offshore. Out West, another disturbance brings more rain to Washington and Oregon Saturday night into Sunday. High pressure dominating across California and the Desert Southwest will keep most of this moisture away to the north. Thus, expect another sunny and dry day for the rest of the West Coast.

Through 945 am...moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to develop across the eastern two thirds of south central Texas this morning. Heaviest storms will generally develop along and east of Interstate 281 and move northward at 20 mph. Some of these storms are capable of producing small hail and gusty winds up to 40 mph. Rainfall amounts will generally range from one quarter to one half inch with isolated spots of one to two inches...especially across Bexar County...where the strongest storms are crossing by.

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Bexar County...

* until 1230 PM CDT.

* At 840 am CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists have
determined that rainfall estimates from Doppler radar indicate slow
moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across much of Bexar
County. 8.41 inches of rain have been recorded at San Antonio
International Airport. Radar estimates of 6 to 9 inches extend
from Macdona to between downtown San Antonio and Leon Valley to
Hollywood Park. Additional rainfall of 1 to 4 inches of rain can
be expected.

This is a flash flood emergency for the city of San Antonio. This
is a life threatening situation.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to
occur. Some locations that will experience flooding include... San
Antonio... Alamo Heights... China Grove... Cross Mountain... Helotes...
Hollywood Park... Kirby... Lackland AFB... Leon Springs... Leon
Valley... Live Oak... Olmos Park... sea world... Shavano Park...
Somerset... Terrell Hills... the dominion... timberwood park and
Windcrest.

Major flooding will occur along Leon creek... zarzamora creek... Olmos
creek... Salado creek and San Antonio River and their tributaries.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

722 am CDT Sat may 25 2013

... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 900 am CDT for Bexar
County...

At 714 am CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists continued to
detect a line of thunderstorms producing flash flooding over most of
western and central Bexar County... with several Road closures and
others minor urban flooding. The San Antonio International Airport
rain gage reported 4 inches of rainfall from the one hour period of
6 to 7 am this morning. Based on radar trends... an additional one to
three inches of rainfall are possible as a cluster of storms slowly
move across the area and additional new storms moving from the south
and moving northward at 20 mph impact the area later this morning.
These new storms are likely to deteriorate the flash flooding
conditions across Bexar County for the next couple of hours.

Locations in the warning area include Windcrest... timberwood park...
the dominion... Shavano Park... Live Oak... Leon Valley... Leon
Springs... Hollywood Park... Helotes and Cross Mountain.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

... Record daily and all-time may daily rainfall set at San Antonio...

As of 750 am... San Antonio International Airport has recorded 7.11
inches of rain. In addition to breaking the record rainfall for may
25th of 1.66 inches set in 1933... it also breaks the record all-time
daily record for the month of may which was 6.82 set on may
31... 1937. It continues to rain and the total will likely be much
higher.

It is now the 3rd wettest day of all-time at San Antonio.
