Not just a fair weather friend

Finally! We havent seen much wildflower action due to all the unseasonable rain. Now the grass is too tall in many places for the wildflowers to do their thing. These caught my eye today while goofing off during a rare sunny day. Nemophila menziesii is their scientific name.

Nice redbud growing beside our pond. I think this is a cultivated one, but they grow wild particularly along rivers and gullys around here.

Hepatica nobilis is always the first wild flower to appear in spring. The deep blue blooms signal that winter is finally over!

This wildflower was in the Pisgah Forest. ABout 3/4 inch flower.

Trillium, I am told, along mountain trail.....

We always kno when spring is coming because these pretty little wildflowers are the first to pop-up.

I have yet to find the name of this tiny wildflower.

I havent found out the mname to this one yet Taken at Rodman Slough Preserve during the Heron And Art event. There were hourly walks through the preserve for birdwatching. Highlight was nesting egrets in a tall oak tree. They had evicted green herons from their nests!
