Morning, Walker,

Nice fresh year, nice fresh blog. Nice that mother nature freshened up your old snow, too.

One of my readers over at WordPress sent a recent email asking if I'd heard of Gordon Bok, or Bok, Muir and Trickett. I hadn't, but thought you might have, being from that part of the country. I don't know your taste in music, but really enjoyed Bok's Turning Toward the Morning. It's such fun discovering "new" music - thought you might enjoy it, too.

Hi Bangor, just got done working and checked in. Looks like your snow has melted big time. Hard to believe you had those drifts only a few days ago. Nice pathway! Hope it lasts!

#5 Garden--The photos might be misleading. There is no way I had the dedication to shovel all of that in one day. The top photo shows the hole I made in the drift, about an hours worth of work. The lower photo is from a few days later and alot of melting help from Mother Nature...

If you get the same stuff we are getting here in Minnesota, it's going to be darn cold shortly. I think I'm going to hibernate for the rest of Winter.

Good Morning {{Bangor}}!

I won't complain about the cold weather here for a while.
I know you have enough wood stock piled.

Snowbird is sounding better?

Stay warm!

Just read the Bangor newspaper - oy,vey!

Any article that contains stuff like this gives me chills all the way down here in Texas:

The Coast Guard also issued an advisory for mariners Saturday to exercise caution over the next few days as the the weather service predicts freezing sea spray throughout New England.

Sure makes me feel like a slug for shivering and layer at 45 degrees! Of course, part of our problem down here is that it takes us two months to realize we ought to be wearing more clothes. ;-)

I'll echo Rays - stay warm!

Rays and Shore--

Thanks for stopping by. Send some of that 45 degree "warmth" up here LOL! Rays you know me too well. I have been pretty much "camped out" in front of the fireplace since Friday night at 11PM when I finished cleaning up the 17 inches. I haven't been outside for any more than 30 seconds. To the mailbox and back is about it. Snow-birding always seems like a great idea about now...

Hi Bangor, hope you are well and have recovered by the fire from your shoveling. Sorry we sent this cold your way. Darn it was just brutal. You have my condolences. Nice sledding photo. I really like that pic!
btw, some of my family is from Lewiston. A bit farther south, but cold nonetheless and suffering through this tough winter w/you. Take care!

"Thank God it's February! As BOGON says in his blog, we have turned the corner. The general consensus here in Maine is if you make it through the 6 weeks right after Christmas, you have made it through the worst of Winter."

That's so true!

Hi Bangor, that was very educational, lol! Hope you will keep the ratios you posted in this blog available in the the archive so we can refer to it next time we want to make an igloo, or a snow wall! Next Year, or...better yet, let's wait a couple of years after this deluge!
Gotta love February boredom of snow. Pretty classic! It made me laugh! :)

Take care!

There's no snow in the long term forecast. Snow started melting today, it hit 43 but far from a thaw and still has a loooong way to go. I agree, once it hits 50 i'll be happy. We might not be too far off, as we know from today March is just 2 weeks away. So we'll endure that high of 18 tomorrow then look forward to temps in the 40's later this week. I'll be staying inside tomorrow.

Hi Bangor, how's it going? I love your nice fireplace! You need a kitty in that pic! Want one? (j/k) I have been lurking a few days and liked the snow shoe trail posts. Let's hope this next train of storms doesn't add on to the knee deep pack. :) Take care!

#31 Juslivn--

I have 2 cats. Both spayed females 10 years old, quite content to sleep in cardboard boxes in the kitchen, near the food dishes! Both long haired, which is why I shovel part of my yard. They also like to get "out and about" on the mild days. Especially the golf course sand trap :-)

The cold of the past few days has hard packed all of the snow. Hopefully I can get out there today, but alas my camera is acting up. The on/off switch won't budge :-(

Hope you worked out the on/off switch. Hey if you figure that out, turn the snow off here! (sand-traps, lol)

Saw your Fire picture. Looks like what you need when it's snowing sideways outside.

Speaking of snow, it's hard to tell from here, but it looks like you might miss the snow from this storm. It's about time you got more melting than snowing.

Glad to see your post. What a mess scattered around. A friend in New York got 22 inches, and was more than a little surprised. Took him five hours to get it all plowed - between the wet snow itself and the melting going on, it wasn't pleasant.

Have a good night - hope your power stays on.

#33 Hi Jus- It looks like WUNDERGROUND found the off switch on my profile pic! I have to get a new camera, the on/off switch is gone. Oh well. I certainly wish I could switch off the snow...

#34 Bogon- The fireplace is a soothing escape from the snowbound doldrums. Thanks for stopping by. We dodged the snow bullet the other day, but almost 3 inches of rain surrounded my spot on the hill with a slush moat!

#35 Shore- So good to see you drop by again. Places North of me here in Maine got that 2 feet of snow that your friend in N.Y. had to deal with. I lucked out here, all rain. And I didn't lose power. Hope all is well down your way...

Hi Bangor,

What a bummer and what a cruel April Fool's non-joke...

so many in the NE are getting snow yesterday and / or today...

Surely this will be the last snow of the season..

enjoy your weekend if you can, hoping for the best.

Good morning! I was down at Mom's last night and thanks to her slight weather channel obsession I got to see the in-depth report from your neck of the woods. Good grief. You're obviously a wise man - let the sun do the rest of the work for you.

I've been pondering seasonal imprinting for the last hour. I made my first run to our little farmers' market in a while and discovered the strawberry farm I love has been harvesting berries for a month. Humph. I had no idea they were in already. I've still got that Iowa "knee-high by the 4th of July" business in my psyche somewhere. Sweet corn, tomatoes and strawberries show up in July, doggone it!

At least the fellow tells me we've got a month of strawberry production left until it gets too hot. I brought home two flats. Preserves, anyone? ;-)

Bump, I'm so bad bout writing, but I do stop in to see how things are there :)Has Spring really come to Maine? Tease tease tease, all season here. We'll be flirting with flurries and 49 for the last part of this week.

Spring cleaning is right! This jungle here looks like a disaster zone.... Hope you are well and have some semblance of Spring there! Any flowers there yet? Robins?? Hoping so.
Take care.

Hi Bangor, I think I would love the long summer days, but I would not like the long winter nights!

Looking at your temps.. your area is really still sort of cold to me..
can you all swim in your lakes and such at this time of year or is it still too cold?

Hello Bangor! Hope you are doing ok. I'm happily typing away in normal fashion after our four day power outage, but don't quite have everything back to normal quite yet. Thanks for stopping by, although you may have came into my blog when it was utter chaos with me trying to text from my silly phone and limited internet etc...sorry if it was confusing!

Anyhow, hope to get back to normalcy soon (well that's debatable) but it was good to see you! Take care.

Hello ALL!

My garden loved the rain that we got Monday and Tuesday, followed by today's Sunny afternoon. It was 79 degrees with a dew point of 50 at 2PM this afternoon. PARADISE. I just harvested 13 cucumbers, bringing this years total to 78. I don't expect to match last year's total of over 300 cucumbers, but that's fine with me. I won't have to give so many away! The temp has dipped below 70 now after 8PM, it's a beautiful night for a short walk, which is what I plan to do as soon as I log off!

Have a Great Night WUBAVILLE :-)

A nice day to mow my lawn and pick up any loose brush and branches for burning in my outside woodstove tonight. All lawn furniture put away, except for 2 chairs that I will put away Saturday. I will enjoy a day off Saturday, the calm before the storm...

Have a Great and SAFE weekend all!!!
