The melons that I planted last night havn't went into shock, so it seems I'm doing everything right with the planting.

i am jealous Blizz. my brother and sisters will be 2 hours south of you for two weeks and i will miss the wide white beaches drinking a beer sitting and soaking up some rays.

. Heavy rainfall this afternoon...

Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms have developed today
and will continue through the afternoon. The showers and
thunderstorms are very slowly and can contain very heavy rainfall.
Because this rain will occur in such a short amount of time, local
roadway flooding may occur very quickly. Be alert for changing
roadway conditions and do not drive through high water.

Blizzard, make sure you take pictures of possible storms down there. I know I will do my part.

It was a pretty nice day here in the lower Sus Valley.
the morning started out partly cloudy with numerouns sun blocking cloud formations, but it was warm. around 3pm the clouds were more scattered and full sun for the rest of the afternoon.

high so far of 83F with light winds. avg. around 3 mph.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued an

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
northern New Castle County in northern Delaware...
this includes the cities of... Wilmington... Newark...
south central Chester County in southeast Pennsylvania...

* until 630 PM EDT

* at 224 PM thunderstorms with torrential rain are occurring
across northern New Castle County. Rainfall rates of up
to 4 inches per hour will occur with these storms and
actual hourly rainfall amounts will average 1 to 2 inches.
If heavier rain occurs, this advisory may be upgraded to
a Flash Flood Warning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.

the last few days an acrobatic biplane has been doing tricks in the area and a WWII US Army plane must be giving tours. I live a hop skip and a jump from Riegle Airport.

We have had sunshine the last half hour so far. Showers are possible later this afternoon across Southern New England.

Here in the Allentown area we got walloped by a severe thunderstorm around 4:30 p.m.

3/4 inch to 1 inch hail, wind, and I got 2.44 inches of rain in just 15 minutes. Lots of streets closed due to flooding, downed power lines, and trees. It just may have been the strongest storm I've seen in the last 20 years in this area.

it was mostly blue skies around here in the lower Sus. the high today was 80.3F with a low of 58F

the last three days have been very nice here in the lower Sus.

It was nice from 9am to about 3pm then fog and drizzle rolled into the area. Hopefully we get rid of this Maritime High pressure ridge and warm weather can expand northward as the Bermuda High flexes its muscle as we head into summer.

today we got a marine layer. temps were in the 60's all day.

thats exactly what i was thinking Blizz would be saying geek. a marine layer infiltrated the lower sus and it screwed up the forecast.

a breeze came with the marine layer. i think it is typical for this time of year to have a day or two like this

you may be in better shape then me being further north for that batch of t-storms. could be some heavy rain. i've hit 60F so far today which is crazy for mid june. nws said the min max record for this area is mid 50's so we're not too far off.

Mason - this month for sure has been a bit strange. we haven't had very many days of warm temps with the sun.

as for the storm heading our way, it appears the reds are heading your direction

yeah the whole complex seems to be heading more southeast. just went outside to measure the manual gauges. 1.09" so far. wonder how the storms and heavy rain will interact with the marine layer once they cross the laruel mountains? lots of flood advisories up this evening. wouldn't be surprised to start seeing those change to flash flood warnings like some counties out in the pittsburgh forecast area.

i didn't get nearly that much Mason. i am showing 0.36".

that batch looks like it might make it over the mountains.

Today we had a wsw or sw wind off the ocean. However it was originating in a fairly warm air mass so the ocean did temper it somewhat. We had probably temps into the low 70s this afternoon. Dew points are lower than the ocean temps so fog is not expected tonight. I do think that the models as of 18z runs are too far se with the track of the Northern Plains low. The first low should track to our south bringing the rains, but then as the then Great Lakes low strengthens so should the southerly winds and pump up the air mass for storms from Friday to Saturday.

We got nailed around 1800.

We were getting frequent strong lightning before the slow moving storm front. The wind picked up and the sky turned a greyish green. The power went out and the local volunteer fire department sirens were going off. Right over our heads, just to the northeast we watched a rotating white gray cloud come closer to the ground in the shape of a wedge. We gathered up our two cats and high tailed it down to the basement. I wish I had the presence of mind to take a video. Darn.

Just about 5 miles to the southeast, there are reports of trees down. A little further away, Accuweather confirmed a touchdown. It was probably our funnel cloud but who knows. There's lots of flooding in the area, up to 3' with the hilly terrain. Friday looks really nasty.

wow pitt nurse. that sounds like a very close call. hope it doesn't get too bad out there.

now it appears like the rain is falling apart coming over the mountain heading towards harrisburg and places east of there.

* Flood Warning for
the Christina river at coochs bridge.
* Until late tonight, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:45 PM the stage was 9.5 feet and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 10.5 feet.
* Forecast... the river should rise just above flood stage by
830 PM and it should quickly crest, returning back below flood
stage by midnight.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... flooding begins in the town of Christiana.

not much to report here. we got some rain. it was less than 0.50" for the two days.

today wasn't too bad. this afternoon it warmed up to almost 80F and the skies became partly cloudy

Today it was much warmer with temps in the upper 70's with the sun playing cha cha with the clouds. The clouds increased in the afternoon in advance of the next system to affect the region.

**GFS is advertising a potential Severe Weather Outbreak sometime next Friday. High CAPE values for much of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic ranging from 1000 to 3000j/kg. LI values range from -2 to -8. Something to keep an eye on as the 6z today has been the most robust.**

A left over weakening MCS is moving through with more rain. This comes after getting 1.80 inches on Thursday.

That was some heavy rain this morning. Somewher around .6 inches fell down around Derry Street this morning between 7 and 9 AM. No thunder or lighting to the best of my knowledge.

This was just released:

... Thunderstorms with heavy downpours moving east across the
Maryland Eastern Shore...

At 955 am EDT... National Weather Service radar showed an area of
thunderstorms moving across the Maryland Eastern Shore toward
central and northern Delaware and southwest New Jersey. The storms
should cross Delaware and move into southwest New Jersey by around
1100 am. The storms were capable of dropping in excess of one-half
inch of rain, were generating occasional cloud-to-ground lightning,
and could cause brief wind gusts of around 25 mph.

Please move indoors until the storms pass. Some ponding of water and
some roadway flooding is possible in poor drainage areas, so if you
are driving and encounter water on roadways, please do not try to
cross. Find an alternate Route.

Good morning Bliz. Hope that the sun is shining brightly wherever you are. I'm ready to cry 'uncle' here. Rain, rain and more rain. Since Wednesday we have had over 3", over 1.5" since I went to bed last night. Well, the rain gauge read 1.5" this morning and it's been raining buckets for at least the last half an hour.

The forecast is threatening sunshine for the entire next week but things can change quickly. Last time we were forecasted a week of sun, we ended up with three days worth. At the moment I'm more than willing to accept three days of sun! ;}

70F and dew points are 63F. Humidity is 79% and we had sunshine with some clouds overhead.

Storms have passed nothing too much here just a noisy storm and torrential rains. I think we have a surplus of rainfall now. The sun is out now so I dont know if that will stir up more convection.
