CLEVELAND -- Winds howled across northern Ohio on Tuesday as an unusually strong storm swept across the Midwest.

The following are peak wind gusts recorded by the National Weather Service across the area through 7 p.m. on Tuesday:

Hopkins Airport: 49 mph

Burke Lakefront Airport: 45 mph

Akron Canton Airport: 47 mph

Lorain: 52 mph

Elyria: 57 mph

Dover/New Philadelphia: 45 mph

Mansfield: 51 mph

Bucyrus: 67 mph

Bellevue: 60 mph

Berlin Hts: 55 mph

Tiffin: 51 mph

Conditions will turn windy again on Wednesday as the intense low pressure system moves eastward through Southern Ontario.

A High Wind Warning will be in effect for northern Ohio from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 2010 Atlantic Hurricane season has turned out to be quite active with the United States being largely spared.Through October 25th, there have been 17 named storms including 10 hurricanes, with at least five packing winds of at 111 m.p.h. or more.The latest hurricane, named Richard, made landfall in Belize late Sunday.
