Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that late yesterday afternoon there was a very heavy flow of moisture flowing north up the Sierra Madre Occidentals toward Arizona and New Mexico. It was one long line of thunderbumpers.
This has continued all nigh with a heavy flow of thunderbumper crossing the Fence in SW New Mexico and SE Arizona. Yuma Radar is showing numerous thunderbumpers in the area and showers in the far northern Sea south to around the middrifts.
Tucson radar 4am image showed lots of thunderbumper around Tucson but none over the city. At that time they had not reported any rain accumulations.
With all this movement of moisture going north none of the storms encroached into the Sea this morning with the exception of some showers in the far northern Sea during the early morning hours this morning.
This image is showing the rest of the Sea to have a few fluffys here and there but in general clear skies.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera I can see a big honk’n thunderbumper build back in the mountains to the NE of Puerto Vallarta and slowly moved NE toward the coast. The 6am image showed the storm just to the east of Mazatlan and moving out into the Sea skirting Puerto Vallarta to the north.
The rest of the Riviera has had a few small thumpers pop up and dissipate during the night and this morning there is spotty overcast along the coast.
Taking a look now in our Tropical Kitchen this morning. Yesterday the Navy designated that low SW of Acapulco as invest 96P. At 3am this morning it was designated as tropical depression 4 echo and by this afternoon it will become our 4th named storm of the year, Carlotta.
The forecast models have it on a westward trek with no danger to the mainland or the Sea of Cortez.
That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where from Seattle to San Diego they will be seeing sunshine and seasonally warm temperatures today. Only Redding will hit the century mark today.
Southern California could see some thunderbumper activity in the mountains and deserts as that moisture plume extends west from Arizona this morning and a chance of some thunderbumpers this afternoon.
Looking now over to the southwest where today could be a bad day to plan a picnic with moisture pouring into Arizona today from the south giving cause to big time thunderbumpers all day and into the evening hours. Arizona residents have been given Flash flooding advisories for the next 24 hours. Thursday will be an atmospheric recovery day and then Friday the monsoon will pick up again with afternoon thunderbumpers forecast into the weekend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like those strong southerlies will abate today and with the exception of the far northern Sea we should see moderate SE winds today and diminishing a bit for Thursday and Friday.
About the same for the southern Sea with moderate SW winds today diminishing Thursday and Friday having a bit of northern flavor to it.
Temperatures today should be a bit warmer than yesterday and here in the cove, around 9:15 this evening a spectacular (almost) full moon will rise over the eastern peninsula. Give it a howl.
Today here on the beach we will celebrate American Independence day with a 4th of July Picnic during the day. A balloon twisting fire breathing cruiser will put on a short show just before the fireworks start at dark. We have never had a balloon twisting fire breathing person here before so you may want to bring your camera this evening. Me I’m standing by with a fire extinguisher.
