Long live the blog!
144 hours!!!! I may not even be around in 144 hours.
:o I'm sorry grothar, I wanted to see you hit 100!!!
Looks like a setup to me!!
I am kind of interested in that one way back crossing the Red Sea, it is really far north. Most waves go through Addis Ababa, this one is wayy north of there into Sudan and southern Egypt near Aswan.
Yes, unfortunately.
This graphic will give you an idea of the extent of the winds. The NHC was located in Coral Gables at that time.
Last time I swam in it something bit me, so it's not dead yet. Give BP more time.
i think the earth dead by that time
After dinner?
This actually sounds like about the best one can expect in S Florida... u should be OK there. But a cat5 would still give me the heebiejeebies... I'd be more worried about roof damage, then. That's my biggest fear this year, the wind just peelin' back the tar-paper....

Didn't you know, you're not allowed to use AD anymore. My daughter in public school informed me that the use of Anno Domini is no longer to be used because of it's religious implications.
looks like it might have been some choppy waters out their.
At least u got a couple of minutes, which is better than none. I actually went and looked at the sat loop to see if any of the convection brushed u guys.
Maybe u will get another 20 minutes today... little drips, I know, but better than no drops at all...
No, no more rain until Thurs or Friday, (of course when I have to move!) and then only thunderstorms, so I figure downpours and out, but they may miss us as before.
When evacuating or doing last minute preparations, be sure to drink lots of water. (Beer dehydrates you, by the way.) People died from heat related illness with Rita.
Sealing Cap Installation Overview with Kent Wells - 9 July 2010
Kent Wells provides a technical update on the installation sequence of the new sealing cap and briefly discusses the status of the Helix Producer containment option and relief well progress.
Installing the sealing cap involves a multiple stage process with several vessels and remotely operated vehicles over an approximate 4-7 day period. The sealing cap has the potential to increase oil and gas collection capacity and should improve collection efficiency during hurricane season by allowing shorter disconnect and reconnect times. The new cap assembly should have a positive impact on future well kill and cementing procedures that will be part of the relief well operations. In addition, the new cap should enable testing of well integrity and, depending on pressure measurements, may be used to shut in the well.
U betcha..specially in a 12 ft Flatboat.
I did a driving tour of Miami-Dade in December after Andrew installing network gear at the MDCC libraries. The area north of the Tamiami trail look like the land scapeing had been trimmed real well in August. South of the trail was a war zone all the way to Homestead. The difference was strikeing.
LNL
Ok, now I'm back LOL XD
I didn't get much of a chance to view areas outside of my general location untill about 6 months later. Never saw any of the news coverage untill many years later when clips started showing up on utube.
And LNL, not surprise to here ur comments. I think Andrew was a wrapup of mesovortices, and anybody within the eyewall area got the twisties... the other storm I think about like this is Ivan.
In the pre-season drills, news stories in Houston mentioned that if people were only concerned about losing electrical power they advised residents to evacuate after the storm had passed.
That certainly would make the going easier for those people leaving to protect life. Priorities, you know.
Was it SAL or did it just gave up?
Hurricane Andrew 1992 As It Happened! Part-1
silly... LOL! Academics have to deal with folks from all over the world. Not everyone in the world is Christian or even Western. BCE or CE are the terms generally used academically. 'Before Common Era' or 'Common Era'. You can google it or look it up on Wikipedia if you really need more edjamakation about it...
Play taps, give it a proper funeral:o)!!
It had about 200 images of it put on here yesterday and it succumbed to the anticipation.
