At least three tornadoes have ripped through the Dallas metro area this afternoon, one passing between Dallas and Fort Worth, bearing down on the Dallas-Fort Worth airport but narrowly missing to the east. The other two tornadoes passed east of Dallas, one touching down near the town of Forney, where there were reports of impacts to the high school. The DFW airport issued a ground stop for all incoming flights and grounded all planes at their airports, and a spokesman said they were sheltering passengers. The airport is now closed while they inspect the planes for hail damage, and can accept no incoming flights for lack of a place to put them.
Residential neighborhoods were completely destroyed in the Arlington tornado, and tractor trailers were tossed like toys. Extensive damage was done to the Green Oaks nursing home and rehab center, which is just east of Lake Arlington. The Arlington tornado was on the ground for approximately 30 minutes. In addition to the tornadoes, trained storm spotters were reporting hail up to three inches in diameter, which is approximately the size of a baseball.
The mayor and city council of Arlington, Texas declared a state of disaster for the city when, just an hour after the tornado had passed through, it was obvious that the area had sustained incredible damage.
Tornado warnings continue to be issued, and the potential for severe thunderstorms with and tornadoes will continue through the evening in eastern Texas, Oklahoma, southern Arkansas, and Louisiana. The convective outlook paints a good picture of the tornado potential for the rest of the evening. If you're in one of these regions, stay alert for tornado watches or warnings that may be issued.

A co-worker was describing the severe storm that rolled through eastern Iowa Saturday night and mentioned golf ball sized hail that damaged his home. He produced this photo as evidence. I told Nathan I would share with the WU family.
Please source this. The NWS has Maitland at 91 degrees. No station in FL has a max temp over 91. I see a PWS at a tire station in Maitland at 94 (highly unreliable). I know you hype just about everything, including models 7 days out and El Nino/La Nina models 6 months out and storms that are supposed to happen every day in FL and heck just about everything that has to do with a non-event. Anyhow.

Lol...But seriously, it has been very "bloby" around the Gulf and Central America lately (much more so than in recent years at this time). I have no idea if it has any relationship to the very mild winter and/or water vapor issues and the relatively warm SST's but just an observation. I will be real curious to see what happens in terms of the upcoming E-Pac season in a few weeks time and whether they jump off to an active start of their season in May.

It's been insane on the TX/LA Coast. I've lived around the Gulf all my life and I've never seen it like this.
Looks like a new blob (small one) is trying to get going around Brazoria County/Galveston. I've got family there and they are getting hammered by severe storms dropping large hail. It hardly ever hails like this in that area so it is unusual.

What browser did you use before Chrome. Do you use the newer or older version of WU.
I use on the other log on IE 8 which works perfectly except when somebody posts something that might have to do with a video and then the right hand third of the posts disappears, this is very boring and unless somebody "quotes," a post then I cant read all of the post. When I was in England a while back I installed a "bogus user account," on an old XP computer there and put the chrome thing on it as TAZ said last year, it gets round the missing third page factor. The problem with the Chrome thing is it doesn't put the heading to the blog on it along with missing off everything else as well. No doubt given an infinite life span, along with infinite patience, I could eventually figure out how to get the thing to look like IE 8. I fear I will run out of life before I can achieve this! At the moment 'all is just a very interesting shade of white, with a lot of blank spaces on it!' Having said that, as soon as the missing third of the page enacts itself I can switch user to "tonto," and read the full 50 post page and then when the page reloads I can switch user back to my usual log on and continue with all the normal features of the IE * pager. Bit of a bore but gets round the missing third of a page problem. I have no idea of older and newer versions of WU! I only stopped by 2 years ago to check on SSTs in the gulf and sort of got locked in since then.

I would upgrade to Win 3.11. Should you then put C:\Windows at the beginning of the path statement, in the autoexec.bat file, you could run Windows in 32 bit mode. You should see a big improvement by doing this. Oh, yes. Install DOS 6.22 first and this will give you a little more, dare I say, byte as well. ... Let me know how it works. ;-)

Dr. Gray’s team at Colorado State forecasted 10 named storms, with 4 hurricanes, and 2 major hurricanes for the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane season.
Gray said the probability for at least one major category 3 or above storm to hit somewhere along the U.S. coast at 42 percent. The average over the last century, according to Gray, is 52 percent.

You never turned up, the bar closed due to the ressesion and lack of trade, I had to go to the UK to concrete a few floors. I am now very cautious about mentioning the base at, " Moron de la Frontera" without prior explanations and to add as a footnote:- If you send me a WU mail with some sort of a Direction de correos, then I will try and circumnavigate your US forbidden olive varieties, import regulations an send you a jar or 2. The Rioja will have to wait until I have a courier!

OK, well I have been using the older version of WU, which you can use if you add classic. to the front of the URL so you have this:
I don't know if this will help with IE8 but it makes the site better for me when I use Firefox. Worth a try. I find the older version of the site looks better to me. Give it a try with IE and see what you think.

Synopsis... slow moving upper level low over Texas Panhandle will drift east tonight. Associated with the upper level low is a low pressure trough in East Texas. The upper level low and trough will move east tonight causing another round of thunderstorms and heavy rain to develop across the area late this evening and over night. Used consensus of GFS and European model (ecmwf) models as basis for forecast.
&&
Short term... a few hours Grace before thunderstorms develop or move into the area from the west tonight. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in the area. There is a even greater risk of 2 to 3 inches of heavy rain overnight. Most of the area got 2 to 3 inches of rainfall during the past 24 hours...so the ground is saturated and any heavy rain will result in flash flooding.

Dont have too, it was over us all night thru 10 am this morning. We got 6 inches Uptown..and the vivid lightening was awesome from 10pm to dawn.

And my Patience was wearing thin on the NWS Alerts from the Midland WR-100.
But I resisted the urge to pull the AC out the back of it, cuz then my batteries would get wear.

Synopsis...
slow moving upper level low over Texas Panhandle will drift east
tonight. Associated with the upper level low is a low pressure
trough in East Texas. The upper level low and trough will move
east tonight causing another round of thunderstorms and heavy rain
to develop across the area late this evening and over night. Used
consensus of GFS and European model (ecmwf) models as basis for forecast.

Short term...
a few hours Grace before thunderstorms develop or move into the
area from the west tonight. There is a slight risk of severe
thunderstorms in the area. There is a even greater risk of 2 to 3
inches of heavy rain overnight. Most of the area got 2 to 3 inches
of rainfall during the past 24 hours...so the ground is saturated
and any heavy rain will result in flash flooding.
A FEW STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...
...CONTINUED VERY WARM, THEN TURNING COOLER THIS WEEKEND...
