There is a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms on Monday. Few storms could be strong to severe on Monday with large hail and damaging winds. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 65 and it feels like 65. Today’s high is 87 with a low of 61. Sundays high is 89.
Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, Ernesto dissipated yesterday over Mexico. Also in the Atlantic, we now have Tropical Depression Seven. Winds are at 35mph with a pressure of 1009mbars. Movement is West at 24mph. Tropical Depression Seven is forecasted to become a tropical storm either today or Sunday and move into the Caribbean Sea. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the Leeward Islands. In the Atlantic, low pressure area associated with a tropical wave that is now coming off the west coast of Africa is producing shower and thunderstorm activity. Shower and thunderstorms remain minimal with this system. Any development of this system will be slow to occur until the low pressure area reaches warmer waters in a couple of days. The National Hurricane Center is now giving this system a low chance, 20%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves West-Northwestward at about 20mph. In the Eastern Pacific, we now have Tropical Storm Gilma. Gilma should become a tropical depression later today or Sunday. Winds are at 45mph with a pressure of 1002mbars. Movement is North-Northwest at 6mph. Gilma is not a threat to land and is weakening. Also in the Eastern Pacific, the mid-level remnant circulation of Atlantic Tropical Storm Ernesto is expected to move into the Eastern Pacific in the next day or so. Environmental conditions are favorable for a tropical depression to form later today or Sunday as the disturbance moves away from the coast of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center is giving this a high chance, 90%, of tropical cyclone formation off the West-Central Coast of Mexico during the next 48 hours.
