Wetter than usual

Averaging about an inch per day right now. I expect this to continue for awhile.

And I'm watching TS Daniel out east/southeast of us and I think we may get some residual effects from his remnants next week after he becomes a minimal hurricane and then likely dissipates into the trade wind flow eventually.

That will be good as it will likely give the leeward sides of this, and the other islands in the chain, some much needed precip!

Hi, Kele! Good to hear you're getting some of the rain you need - and that the leeward sides may, too. I hadn't realized our midwest is suffering so from drought now - the grain crops are in truly sad shape. I hope they can get both some moderation in temperatures and some rainfall. Everything's just a little weird right now. The Independence Day celebrations around here were tempered a good bit by the heat and by towns cutting back on celebrations for economic reasons. Had a very unfortunate 4th of July week. We went to McCall on our way to Spokane for my boys to compete in the Judo Junior Nationals and my 11 year old was in a very bad boating accident. As a result, he broke both of his legs. 1 in 3 places and the other in 8. We had him life flighted to Boise where he underwent surgery on both legs. Prognosis on his right leg is good but he severed his growth plates on the left and will have several surgeries to come. He is now at home and we are very fortunate to have him with us. I am very sorry to hear that! The tragedy is that this happened to a guy so young. Things like this change life forever even though it is possible to achieve a complete recovery due to youth. When you are old like me and you have a severe injury such as my hip being smashed when I was 69 years old, I'll never recover even though the hip was repaired. I spend most of my time indoors in a wheelchair now and had to give up my farm and go on disability and cannot work ever again. My best wishes for your son. We're getting rain but not on the leeward sides of the islands which is where it is needed most. I'm getting plenty here on the windward side. In fact more than is needed but if it should happen to dry out here too at least I am on the county water system and can irrigate when necessary Quoting shoreacres: Hi, Kele!
