Anyway, these freeze dried goods come in powders, slices, chunks etc. and only water is added to make them as almost if they were fresh. Meats, veggies, fruit, berries, milk, eggs, you name it. I've had delicious strawberries and a yummie cheese omelette already.
Anyone else have this stuff in their preps?
When was the WUBA photo taken...??
Good to see you again.
Some of the freeze dried stuff is pretty good, some not so great, but all of it is better than going hungry. Available from single serving packs to 5 gallon pails. Try some of the small packs, see what you like, then stock up.
iyou, been missing you too girl! Hope to see you more - like on June 1st at Aubie's blog? The photo is from the WU pancake breakfast hosted by Peace River Beth on Dec 2 2007.
Rob, good to see you too! I have stacked quite a lot of pouches and cans, tried them too. The best so far have been the strawberries. They are really good in my morning elixir along with freshly squeezed Florida oranges and bananas. Way to get up and start the day :)
I was in Finland for a couple of weeks to give a meditation retreat, will have pic's up soon.
Been raining here the whole month, will be interesting to know how many inches total we will have received in May. I love rain!
Not even a sprinkle so far from our tropical whatnot!
Highlands.
A little rain wouldn't hurt, but nothing tropical.
Have a whole lotta tomatoes almost ready that I don't want knocked over!
Sorry, don't mean to be picky...:o)
Hey Finn...enough rain your way??? Already watching. Could be a wet weekend here too.
Oh my, we're getting an early start! Yes, been wet. Stay safe, hope to see you at Aubie's on June 1st!
Haha Rob, please be picky, I lost all tomatoes but one while I was away for two weeks. Good luck with them.
I've passed by your neck of the woods many times (driving to my in-laws), beautiful Spanish moss :)
Hope this video helps with finding them loving homes :)

Wow... here are the results of all the clicks of that site!
Just dropping by to say hi and bump the clicky thingies!
Hope you have a really great day.
Under thunder here... ooops, lost power just now, gotta turn the laptop off.
See you soon!
Wow, almost 3" of rain and a close call with lightning. Even our dog Max, who usually is ok during storms, was shaking like a leaf. Sophie spends all storms in our walk-in closet.
The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch
364 in effect until 8 am EDT this morning for the following areas
In Florida this watch includes 7 counties
In South Florida
Broward Collier Glades
Hendry Mainland Monroe Miami-Dade
Palm Beach
This includes the cities of... Clewiston... Flamingo...
Fort Lauderdale... La Belle... Miami... Moore Haven...
Naples and West Palm Beach.
Hail to 1 inch in diameter... thunderstorm wind
gusts to 60 mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in
these areas.
Remember... a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons
in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions
and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe
thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.
WOW finally the rain has gone north of me where it was needed.. now the entire state is soggy.
Hope no damage for you from all the thunderstorms.
When the moisture map updates this afernoon I expect to see a lot of Blue & Dark Green counties in Florida.
I don't think there are any "dry" areas left.
I saw on FB that your book is coming out in English this month!!! So excited. Cannot wait to read it. Those "tease" chapters you posted for us just made us want more.
Also I have not forgotton you and I are having a lunch date at Dave's at some point this summer. We will make it happen!
Enjoy your weekend.

Rob, NOOA weather radio is on alert mode and path cleared :)
Have a wonderful weekend yalls!

Coupla tings I've been meaning to mention...
First, you were talking a blog ago about dehydrated food. We've found a very reliable resource with good prices, selection, and quality (no, I'm not affiliated with them, just a happy customer) ;o)
readymaderesources.com We've tried a fair amount of dehydrated foods, and don't want to just store stuff away for the unknown, but want to use and rotate the stocks, so we want food that is GOOD and nutritious and not fulla all kindsa crapola, like MSG and high fructose corn syrup and hydrolized palm oil, etc. etc. It's amazing enough to find a U.S. company that will ship here, but one that takes the time to search out the cheapest shipping and a 'ma & pa' shop to boot........ good stuff.
The other thing........ something we came up with prior to Paloma regarding cats. Now bear with me, because this is going to sound mean, but it's not. When we were contemplating bugging out (and I mean we were VERY close to going to the cave), we took a laundry bag, and snuggled out kit kats into it. Why? Because getting them into a cage isn't difficult, but transporting them in a cage, why they go ballistic, and even damage themselves. They aren't cage shy, but when being carried in a cage when the winds are high and rain and the noise......... totally ballistic. In the huge, soft canvas laundry bag, they sorta just snuggled in, and really didn't make a peep.
Another thing........... homeopathic kitty sedatives. Well, they're called HomeoPet Anxiety Relief, and they really seem to take the edge off and fairly quickly during hurricane/thunderstorm/travel times. Cats that have been given kitty downers causes their nictating eye membrane to become visible, but this doesn't happen with the homeopathics. Just takes the edge off. Very useful stuff.
That's all I've got for now. Have been wanting to share this stuff with you for a while, and I guess the time is now.
cheers!
Nice link. All kinds of stuff.
Thanks.
Will have to check out the kitty calmer link too.
Angie would freak if I shoved her cat in a bag. Might give it a try one day when she isn't around.
LOL
Well, Rob, ya don't shove the cat inna bag, it's more of a gentle scootch. :D Even our semi-feral cat allows the scootch-inna-bag -- we've tried! The cat -- Rascal -- was born and raised in the wild and is allowed inside for brief periods until he gets jiggy. He's been neutered, and no difference is apparent.
The homeopathic cat meds are a liquid, and don't really taste like anything (yes, I've tasted them :D), so you can add them to any liquid that your cat fancies. I usually mix the meds with a little canned cat food gravy. Presto! A wee bit later, the cat is chillified, and without making the cat walk crooked.
Our cat freaks during thunderstorms and actually wants to go outside. We don't know why, exactly, but suspect that the vibration is more perceptable through the concrete floor than when the cat is outside under the shed, laying on the sand. We've noticed that el gato seems to want to be off the floor, and yet under something, so he usually ends up howling bloody murder whilst laying on my t-shirts in my work clothes cabinet. Little bit o' amended gravy and he merely pouts for the duration of the storm.
Cat was also traumatized by Hurricane Paloma. Prior to that, he suffered through thunderstorms without much vocalization. Paloma was pretty bad here, and from Nico the cat's point-of-view, if his inner sanctum -- the house -- is taking on water from everywhere, then it's................ catmagheddon! The cats don't seem to suffer any ill after-affects from the homeopathic stuff, so this year if/when the TC's come, we're going to do a pre-emtive dosing.
Regretfully, I don't have a laundry bag big enough for my Bride. She's gonna punch me on the shoulder bone when she reads this. Selah..
OMG those kitties are cute :D
Crab, thanks soooo much for sharing all this!!! Does the homeopathic stuff work on dogs too?
Gonna check the readymaderesources.com and compare with what I have bought. I only buy healthy food, none of the crap they usually put in cans etc. that you mentioned, nor do I buy genetically modified anything. And like you, we rotate the supplies by buying only things we eat and drink normally.
BTW, I have become addicted to freeze dried strawberries :) Cheaper than buying fresh ones and guaranteed to be organic. Yummy in a blender with blueberries, bananas and freshly squeezed orange juice (from the local farmers market)...
Hi Rob :) You've gotten some good rain lately. Did you get those bad looking lightning storms that swept through central FL? Hope your tomatoes are ok...
looking forward to reading it
will be here just in time for a good read on vacation
had been wondering what I would carry along
Thanks
CMC is predicting development of the Cayman Islands blob and the European promises more rain - if not a full blown storm. Probably a wet weekend, will be interesting to see if we end up with even more rain in June than we had in May
:)))
Lissu I was just notified that my book has been shipped. Can't wait.
What is your SILs name. Who knows I might even know her. We live in such a small world.
Bug goes out to Crab thus afternoon via UPS.
Who will get theirs first, Ogal or me???? LOL
{{{Keith}}}, thank you sweetie, hope you'll like it!
Yesterday Gams?? I was told mine were shipped today...
Maybe this will be the first time ever, that I don't get to see a copy before anybody else! LOL
So I got my copy before you got yours??? :o)
I ordered it as soon as I saw your link!
Been waiting on it for years!!!
I will have to have you sign it for me when we meet for lunch in the near future!
Wonder if Ogal got hers today also?
Ogal, I think they just went on sale Monday? Wasn't that when you sent us the link, Finn?
I ordered it on Monday afternoon and got it Thursday.
Of course I'll sign it :)
Does it look ok?
I am sooo afraid there's some kind of mistake in the uploaded files or size measures that it prints out funny, because my online proof copy, which, seemed ok can't be compared to a real paper version.
Send a pic!!!
It just moved to the top of my to read list.
Inside the back cover it says it was printed "18 June 2012"
so I must have ordered it Monday when it was printed..
Anyway mine was delivered this morning.
Oh, it looks beautiful, the front is pretty, your name is spelled correctly at the top.
The back has a nice write up about the story.
at bottom of back a nice write up about you and your picture.
I LOVED your acknowledgements where you mentioned "Subtropic for friendship, encouragement and advice."
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
I cannot wait to start reading it.
I will try with my cellphone and send it to Facebook. let me try.
to my facebook wall. So you can see it there.
I cannot get on FB from my work computer, it is blocked!
And I cannot upload pictures from my cell phone to my blog here.. or I don't know how.
I actually brought the book back to work with me so I could look at it!
I was able to save and upload your photo from Facebook, it's waiting for approval.
Thanks {{{Rob}}}, niiice :)
I'm just in awe with you all... you guys ROCK!
Yeah, I mention Sub in the acknowledgements because he worked on the cover PDF file, though he was really busy at the time. He's a fab guy and I'll take a copy to him when I get my shipment... and tell him to come and say hi to us all!!! :)
I've started 2 books. One fiction, one non.
I'll likely never finish either.
Takes a lot of dedication.
I had a husband and a teenage daughter, who kicked my butt to get the 2nd book out of a dusty drawer, and it was finished in just 3 months after lying there for years!
We all need encouragement and people to believe in us, then we can do things we never thought were possible. And the first step is to say out loud that you'll be an author - some day.
I said that to my dad when I was 14. He smiled and replied "I know you will" :)
