This weekend got out on the water a couple times. Friday evening, took the family down to the Lock and we did pretty well. The kids had a blast, and they caught about a dozen fish. Unfortunately for me, I was too busy detangle lines and rebaiting the kids hooks to wet a line myself. My daughter did manage to catch two nice "keepers", a 2 lb Crappie and a Bluegill that was about a pound (picture to be posted soon). My youngest son caught his first fish too. Most we caught were a mixed bag of small Crappie and a couple of Rock Bass. Some of the catches from other anglers weren't too bad either. One gentleman managed to catch 3 nice Flatheads, and another caught a nice Blue Cat.
Saturday afternoon I managed to make it out on the lake to do a little Crappie fishing with a buddy. The water temps are up into the mid 70's now, so the Crappie spawn is pretty much over. It was a slow afternoon, but we still managed to boat one nice Crappie, a Gar, and a couple of Bass. Other anglers we met on the water had decent catches of Crappie, but they were still few and far between.
Garden is going well, but still searching for a way to rid my raised beds of Fire Ants without using poison that could make it into my vegetable crops. Carrots, Turnips, and Radishes are about to get pulled up, while my Blackberries, Raspberries, and Strawberries are in full bloom and starting to produce fruit. The Corn, Tomatoes, Squash, and Peppers are all coming up nicely. Looking to add some more Tomatoes and Peppers to the lineup shortly.
On the flower side of the house, the Daffodils are just about finished, with the Tulips and Irises now in bloom. My Passion Vines made it through the winter outdoors and are now growing nicely, as are my Morning Glories. My lilies are all doing well too.
