Drought coming to an end
Posted by: NEwxguy, 15:43 GMT le 19 avril 2012 +0
We have been almost 8 inches below normal since the start of the year.Everyday brings fire warnings, ground is bone dry,so we need rain badly and it looks like we will get it this weekend into first part of next week.
A deep trough will be digging down all the way to the gulf picking up lots of moisture and a low will be developing in the north gulf and track up the east coast. This will bring up tons of moisture and it looks like it may dump 2 to 4 inches of rain over the area.In fact this may get cutoff from the steering and take its time moving out. The slow moving upper low will be around at least until the middle of next week.Don't be surprised if you see some snow in upstate NY as they will be on the cold side of this storm.

Good Afternoon NEw ~

I'm getting quite a kick out of that Youtube video, you posted, containing the "Rate-A-Record" segment of an early broadcast of American Bandstand! How well I remember those days and shows!

Did you know that Dick Clark also created and produced another mid-sixties (1965 - 1967)dance/entertainment show called, "Where the Action Is?" It used to come on daily in late afternoons or well after school got out. If memory serves me right, it introduced the musical group, Paul Revere and the Raiders as well as a singer (and a co-producer of the show) named, Steve Alaimo who were both regulars on the show. Locally known singer, Freddie (Boom-Boom) Cannon had a hit singing its theme song when introduced in '65. I can also still envision the show's regular go-go dancers prancin' in the background while doing the boog-a-loo, watusi or other popular dances of the day. LOL! What a terrific couple of entertaining years there!

Guess you, too, woke to another brisk morning outside! I forgot to reset our interior thermostats to snap back on, so it was rather brisk indoors as well! LOL! Thankfully, the sun's currently warming things up to much more comfortable levels. I'm also glad that tomorrow afternoon's weather looks to be also sunny, but warmer (approx. 77F degrees. Hubby and I plan on doing as much grilling today and tomorrow to carry us through the chillier rainy weekend and weekdays ahead. We don't care if our prepared grilled food need to be reheated by the microwave, as it still tastes so great! We'll be having a cook-in! LOL!

Well, fingers crossed that our weekend's forecast for heavy rainfall, come Sunday night into Monday, will hold and bring the much relief we need. I'm so tired of posting fire hazard warnings everywhere or watching spreading brushfires on local TV. I want to see naturally quenched woodlands, lawns and gardens!

Thanks for the tunes, it brings back a lot. In 65 I was 18 and in less than 2 years I would be in the army and later to Nam,
