Sunk Ape or Swamp Ape

I will start this blog about an area that I know best. I lived in Sarasota, Fl for nineteen years. Our favorite get a way place was Myakka State Park. What a beautiful place to get away from all the tourism. Hubby and I would head out early on a Saturday morning and spend most of the day. This is an area of swamp, dry pine flats and lots and lots of land with the Myakka River running through it. You can hike forever and see no one. This whole river area drains south into the Peace River and eventually into the Gulf of Mexico. There are huge trees covered with bromeliads and Butterfly Orchids. it is an area of tons of land and areas where few people ever go. Wild hogs, deer, and even the Florida Panther roam through this wild place.

Over the years there have been reports of sightings of a Sunk Ape in the Myakka area. A horrible smell surrounds sightings of this large primate. Could it be a huge primate that perhaps escaped from a circus. Ringling Bros has been in Sarasota County for many years. If so does this animal mate? Where are the bones from its' skeleton when it dies? What do you think?

In 2010 a woman in Eastern Orange County (ORLANDO ) saw a Skunk Ape in her front yard. The ape growled at her and hurriedly headed back into the woods. Is she making this up?? She called this in immediately to the Orange County Sheriff.
The sheriff deputies checked this out but found no trace of the ape. Not even a footprint.

This came from our friend Rob on Grand Manan.

Have a yarn about the Sasquatch, on Lake Winnipeg there are a few rivers that run est to west, in particular the Berens River. At the mouth of the river is the Berens River Reserve approx. 90 miles inland is Little Grand Rapids. The trade route on the river involved portages, at each portage the natives give gifts of tobacco to MEMQUESHI (phonetic). They did not proceed beyond the point of the offering till it was accepted, and always was. A longer story in there of course, but an indication the being has a wide range in North America lore.

ROB
Thanks for this interesting input Rob.

I believe in Sasquatch as much I believe in Nessie (Loch Ness). I actually saw Nessie when I was in Scotland and standing by the lake. It was a statue sitting on the ground of the store behind where I was standing! Our guide kept insisting that if we looked hard we would see Nessie, I just sat back and enjoyed the beautiful lake and area. Yeti, Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Nessie,I am thin, young, 6 feet tall, and beautiful, It is all true.

I am looking forward to your blog though, I bet you will have some interesting things to say.

Of course there is a Sasquatch. They sell replicas of him all over the place. I'm sure the National Enquirer has also posted a picture or two and we all know they only print the truth.

Besides all that, there are hundreds of blurry pictures out there to claim it to be true!

Yup, dated Sasquatch when I lived in Toronto...ROFLMBO This was a BIG guy, 6'5, (I am only 5'4), built like a redwood tree but he was a gentle giant. He wore a size l5 boot, hence called "bigfoot" heee hee heee. Never met someone as gentle as this person was not only towards me but to all things in general. His momma and granny taught this boy well. Sometimes in life we are fortunate to meet people that forever touch our souls. He was one of these people.

So girl, I am looking forward to your Sasquatch blog. From what I have seen on television, he is still a mystical creature who has gained fame from the Rockies east to this region and beyond. Scientists are still scratching their heads as all that has been found are footprints of some large ape yet to be discovered.

Yes, I do believe in Sasquatch! On way once, way early in foggy (cue music, but no kidding) morn to KY from Promised Land of the FL Emerald Coast of FL on Rt 20? Oh yeah! Could'a just been large hog however. ;-) big hairy mother, if so! Scared the be'jesus outta us!
On flip side, was traversing Rt 23, with then MIL late at night in KY mountains for 2 hours. Still swear to this day, we saw something in sky out of norm. Seems lights were playing games with us on 2 1/2hour trip home from Huntington, W Va family & friends thought us nuts. She's gone now, but even with family disruption later, its something we both remembered as same years after family break up WTH knows? Just know, I hope to not see again! I'm chicken in my later years ya know! Lights just dont jump mountains ya know....Too crazy to share, but has given lasting impression all these years later. Who knows for sure? Not I! I'm a believer after that one late night of watching amazement.

Yes I believe in Sasquatch, Nessie and all of the other evasive creatures even though I have never seen them. Too many people have and that many people can't be crazy or can they? lol

I also believe in UFO's - seen too many unexplained sightings in the sky at night..

Skunk apes? That's a new one. I haven't even heard any mention of that on Coast to Coast! Somebody'd better get on the phone to George Noory.

I suppose there could be strange, big critters out there somewhere, but a lot of these tales remind me of my camp days, when we'd sit around the fire and tell tales to scare ourselves to death. On the other hand, I happen to know for certain that there's a boogey-bear who lives in the Texas hill country outside Kerrville. You can hear him at night, prowling around campsites and going, "Boogeyboogeyboogey..." True story.

I have personally seen a UFO. There was a whole group of us who saw it in July, 1964, on the Pennsylvania turnpike in the middle of the night. It was pretty cool. If the aliens come back, I hope they abduct the whole political class of this country.

Morning OGAL, thanks for dropping by and the nice words about the mini-documentary. As you can see we are proud and more than pleased with the arena and MARS made a great choice to promote their Bar. I understand in the U.S. it is marketed at MILKY WAY.

Oh, yeah, I've heard tell of skunk apes. To the best of my recollection, skunk apes are the FL version of bigfoot or sasquatch.

I've never run across anything to indicate SC has its version of bigfoot. Besides the ones like Alley reports! LOL

I think most areas of the country have had reports but what's out there, if anything, I have no idea. No close encounters of my own. Nor have I heard anything from the hunters among my family and friends. Unless they've kept mum, for fear of ridicule.

Hubby had his initial augmentation surgery today to build up the bone on the upper jaw so they can insert the implant. Unfortunately, some of his bone was not strong enough, so instead of getting 2 implants, he'll have one. The dentist said they could make the tooth a bit larger to make up for the missing tooth. It's way in the back so it should be OK. Next, the post goes in, then the healing, then the crown.

He's tuckered today. Sore and tuckered. I think he pre-stresses (who can blame him and I know you understand), so now that it is behind him, he has let it all down. He's a couch potato tonight! I bought him ice cream to eat - that'll help :)

Brought this over from my blog as I know you don't get around too much anymore....hey, isn't that a song? LOL

OGal - hubby is actually doing pretty well, but read my response to Ylee. He had a salad for lunch today, but basically he has been eating pretty soft food: yogurt, smoothies, ice cream :) He made himself oatmeal this morning. Tonight it's leftover homemade soup. He has been chewing on one side (pretty much) for a few months now, so he''s kind of used to it.

He has also been eating 1/2 a fresh pineapple every day (supposed to for 6 days beginning the day before surgery). Did I ask you if your perio suggested that? His did, said it truly helped with swelling. It doesn't look as if he has any swelling at all. We ran a few errands today and he truly seems 'back to normal'.

Good Morning,
I have a silver backed old hairy neighbor that could be mistaken for sasquatch. He rooms the neighborhood topless on mild days.

We have not even really gotten cold down here this winter..
I think lowest low was in low 40's.And that was only for 1 night.

And I will take that any winter!

I have been loving our "normal" winter down here!

Have you still been watching Downton Abbey? They wrapped up this season Sunday night. I hate to think how long I'll have to wait to find out what happens next!
