Good morning Sandi. Yes I am at home. LOL
I have been picking up the house for the cleaners who will be coming this afternoon. Also in a short while the furniture company from whom I purchased my spur of the moment piece of furniture, is delivering it shortly. And my hubby brought me a bunch of flowers yesterday and I just finished photographing them. Yes, I brought them outside to photograph them.
We have some nice sunshine at the moment. At some point it is going to turn to rain and then to snow, but not until Sunday they say. Supposedly this will be our snowstorm of the year. We'll see.
Yesterday I went to my Italian class. No conversation, we read, translated, and sung 'La Donna Immobile' from la Traviata. Actually I listened and let the others sing, did not want to subject them to my voice! In that class we have some choir singers and a conductor! Who said I am not smart, I know when to keep my mouth shut! At least when it is a matter of singing.
I hope that you are having a good day.
Shore, that's one very interesting book. Thank you for the information and the video.
I love to Dance! I have always been a dancer.
"Who's Who in High School"
I was first place Best Dancer! LOL
And I can dance to almost anything...
So I agree..
Let's Dance!!!
have a great weekend.
Man arrested in alleged suicide bomb plot at U.S. Capitol
The FBI and the U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man Friday after a lengthy investigation into an alleged plot to carry out a suicide attack on the Capitol. He was arrested near the Capitol, carrying with him a vest that he believed was packed with explosives, but the material had been rendered inoperable by law enforcement, officials said.

A man has been arrested near the U.S. Capitol as part of a long-running investigation by the FBI and the U.S. Capitol Police.
The FBI announced the arrest Friday. CNN reports the Morrocan man was plotting a suicide mission on the Capitol building.
"On Friday, February 17, 2012, members of the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI arrested an individual in the area of the U.S. Capitol. This arrest was the culmination of a lengthy and extensive operation during which the individual was closely and carefully monitored," federal authorities stated in a press release.
Authorities say the public was never in any danger.
The man's name and the charges against him were not immediately disclosed.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Don't know if the news you posted is good, bad or not so beautiful... and
I don't remember the exact words he said, but, not long before his death, film director John Ford, in a commentary on his film, Stagecoach, stated what he thought to be the two best - in the sense of most moving - film subjects...

~A couple dancing
Gams, I did not know that you like to dance, that's wonderful. Dancing has been a lifetime passion for me and Fred. During High School, College, and the early years of my marriage I danced Folk Dances. Then my husband and I started taking ballroom dancing lessons and stopped only when hubby had his second knee replacement, a few years ago. I miss the dances but life has its way of altering lifelong activities.
Take care Gams.
Bug, I hope that you are still hearing Boogie Woogie and tapping your toes. I'll look for the video and if I find it, I will post it here for you.
Alley, love the songs and videos that you posted. Hubby and I had the opportunity to see the original Michael Flatley 'Lord of the Dance', and Flatley's following show (different show, different cast except for Flatley himself). It was quite a treat to see Mr. Flatley dance, amazing.
BF, fortunately the would be terrorist had been monitored for some time, and the explosives in his vest were not real. So glad that the FBI is doing a good job in ferreting out these people who want to harm our country.
Living close to the Pentagon and the Capital has a lot of us be a bit nervous now and then, about our safety. We have not forgotten the events at the Pentagon on 9/11.
Horses and dancing as film subjects, I can agree with John Ford.
Bogon, "Let's Dance", I love it. Glad that you posted this video.
Shore, Tuca Tuca to you! I had never heard this song nor seen the dance! What fun! I do wish that I had known it when it was popular, undoubtedly I would have indulged in that 'dance'. Hubby would have also! Glad you posted this, I am still laughing!
Here's another dance of a slightly different sort. Videos are starting to come out of Liberia again now that war wounds are healing and travel is taking place. This one's from my old stomping grounds in Bong County. This isn't a Kpelle devil - it may be Gbende or Vai. In any event, this is the real thing - not dressed up for some "cultural event". There are some nice shots of the musicians, too.
I am far too self-conscious to attempt anything so expressive as dancing(or singing, ect.)!
Take care!
I used to love the old time country dancing we learnt at school. The boys did cross country and the girls did country dancing ... it was before the equality laws!
I though we might has well have a little culture so how about some English country dancing courtesy of Pride and Prejudice :)
Love as though you have never been hurt before.
Sing as though no one can hear you.
Live as though heaven is on earth.
~Anonymous~
One of my favorite Anonymous quotes.
I was looking for something to post on dancing for your blog and came across this which made me smile :)
If I think about it, many great leaders obviousness lacked dancing abilities!!
Hope you have managed to get back to bed and are dreaming of dancing with some handsome prince :))
Take care!
Hope you're either asleep, having a wonderful meal somewhere or snuggled up with a good book. They all sound like good options!
Shore, Sandi, Ylee, I am ok. I did not get to sleep until around 5 this morning! I took Benadryl around 4am and it finally put me to sleep but I just cannot wake up! What is keeping me up is an allergy and that's why I took the Benadryl, not as a sleep measure. Anyways, I am ok.
Shore, I will believe we are getting a taste of winter when I see the snow, if it comes. This morning was somewhat sunny but now the sun is gone and the sky seems to say that we will get something.
The dancing devil is a bit scary. I did watch the 'dance'. I will look up the history behind the dance, I am always interested about the meaning of cultural customs. Did you ever participate in any of their dances and or rituals?
Ylee, don't worry, if we get snow it will be just a little bit. I have enough food in the house if it should turn out to be more than expected. Thank you for your prayers, I sure can use prayers.
Dancing is fun! Who cares what others think? Dance Ylee and enjoy yourself.
Sandi, Moliere is one of my favorite writer of comedies. When I was much younger I read almost every play that he wrote. Hubby and I have seen several of his plays and enjoyed them very much, from the Misanthrope to School for Wives.
Rough night and rough day for me but all manageable. Lack of sleep sure plays havoc with some of us.
I love the English 'country dancing'. I never thought of it as country dancing but it really is! Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books.
Alley, thank you so much for posting the My Fair Lady video. I had tried to post it but could not find one video that was allowed to be embedded. I guess I did not look enough!
I hope that you are well.
Kat, I like the quote very much. Thanks for stopping by and leaving it.
I hope that you are well and that the snow has left your area.
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
It was good foot-stomping music something like this:
With some Buck Dancing like this:
I'm sure this isn't what you had in mind for this blog, but I thought you might have a little fun with it, anyway.
Over the years I have seen performers do the dancing as seen in the second video. Always lots of fun! I was first introduced to this kind of dancing when we lived in Upstate New York and my hubby went to Cornell. Across the street from Cornell there was a little club where they had what I call, real American dancing and playing of instruments. Favorite instrument? A washboard!
Thank you so much for posting the videos and sharing your story from your youth. Now I am going to visit the site that you point out and learn all about Jew's Harp!
Here is a greeting for my visitors, lurkers, friends, ...
Not even a flake of snow! We have a sunny day albeit on the cold side. It should warm up a little as the day progresses.
HAPPY PRESIDENTS DAY! Great job George W. and Abe!
Khalil Gibran
Really like the photos you took of the flowers hubby brought.
Seems to be warming up outside here but overcast so I will not be chasing birds with the camera. More likly pulling weeds from the garden and getting it ready for spring.
I love that song, one of my son's teachers sang it the year his class was graduating from Middle School. I always think of the both of them when I hear it.
I have a plaque in my home office (The TAX Tower of Doom) that says:
Don't use money to measure wealth...
Love your neighbor as yourself...
Trust in God, but lock your door...
And Slow Dance More!
I'd rather be dancing now, instead I'm in the Tower - Tax time again. AAaargh!!!!
I think I vote for a flat tax! hahaha The paperwork, the receipts, the search for every possible deduction... ahhhhhh,
the joys of tax season & the self employed.
*sigh*
Back to it, I go!
Big Hugs to you!!
XXXOOOO
Gad you didn't get any snow! Have a pleasant evening!
I am having a lazy day today, as tomorrow will be warm enough to get into the garden ... so conserving my energy!! lol
and I am short, so I think it looks
more like we're playing hockey..he's the
stick and I'm the puck! LOL Here are some
people who make it look SO easy!
Never having learned ballroom dancing, I'm not sure what style this is. Maybe Salsa???
Kat, I have not seen the video yet but he looks like Fred Astair. He sure was a fabulous dancer.
Sandi, actually I dreamed of dancing with Travolta! NOT! Unfortunately my dreams do not deal with dancing but being in my classroom and being unable to control my students! Can you believe it, after all of the years of retirement I am still dreaming about school.
GG, I have not looked at the video yet but I can tell that I am going to enjoy it. So how is the wallpaper story coming along?
Ylee, hello!
Foxxy good to see you on the blogs! I have missed you.
Don't use money to measure wealth...
Love your neighbor as yourself...
Trust in God, but lock your door...
Nicely said. Definitely dance rather than do taxes! I am lucky that hubby is the one who handles the taxes, except that he always files late! Fortunately we pay extra taxes throughout the year and are not in danger of owing anything.
The memories about Jeremiah are beautiful! Keep thinking of the song and his smile as the teacher sang. And go right ahead a do a little jig, he is looking down and will enjoy your dance. I love to hear stories about your son. Big hugs to you too.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a note and or a video. I enjoy your visits. Have a wonderful evening and rest of the week.

I hope you're having a good evening. I'm thrilled to death to have open windows - but it is windy tonight. Must be another system out there roaming about. It was beautiful today, and a pleasure to be out.
I brought along another little addition to the dance card, here. This is one of my favorite dance forms - no partner required, and the music is great!
Prose, I love the Dahlia dancing with the sun. I think it's a Dahlia anyway.
:)
If you do check in before I get up in the morning, could you do me a favour? (Or anyone else who sees this message and uses Flickr, too.)
I have had difficulty with Flickr all evening - every time I try to get onto the site I get a "connection refused" message.
Is it just my membership, or is it everyone? Could you please see if you can get in and let me know. Then in the morning, if I still can't get access I will know it is my problem ..... and begin tearing my hair out!
Ta-ever-so:)
Sweet dreams - dancing with Travolta !
Yes, thanks to Linda and her Tweets, I slept peacefully, and Flickr is back this morning. All I seem to have lost is a photo I had been editing - actaully spent almost an hour on it - but Flickr went down as I tried to save it back :(
Never mind, perhaps it wasn't meant to be!
Sleep on, dear Pros :)
Take care!
Yesterday was a challenging day and so will be today and maybe tomorrow. May or may not post. All is well though. You all keep on dancing!

I picked some daffodils where there was an abandoned farm today; I do this very year, but this is the first February that I did this! Almost Valentine daffodils!
Take care!
Just one more day of the "work dance" and then it's my annual spring get the garden ready dance.
Have a great day!
Our winds finally have died down - hope yours have, too. We're cool today, and perhaps will get a bit of rain this morning. It's creeping around south Texas, but may pass us by out in the Gulf.
Hope all is well. Is that latest photo an ornamental cabbage? It's just beautiful - yellow and pink are one of my favorite combinations, especially in these shades.
I just got my little cardinal in the mail yesterday - the watercolor done by the woman in New Mexico that I linked to for you. It's even more gorgeous in person. I didn't buy the original watercolor, but a giclee print. Much more affordable! And I must say, between the paper and the high quality of the printing, you'd never know the difference. I need to think about how to frame it, as it has a ragged edge to the paper that I want to preserve - probably a solid mat, behind.
Anyway, art has come to the rescue again. I've always hated that I don't get to see cardinals - now I do!
* TIMING...THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR THIS MORNING AND
AFTERNOON.
* WINDS...WEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.
Koko doesn't want to eat and I am concerned. I gave her the special chicken 'soup' that she usually loves, I scrambled some eggs, I gave her regular dog food in the form of semi wet food, I gave her treats but she refused to eat anything. I do not know what to give her to entice her to eat something. If she keeps this up we will take her to the vet.
Shore, the wind has not been too bad in my area but to the south it is a different story. Glad that the wind has stopped in your area.
How exciting about the cardinal painting! You can have the painting mounted without a lining to show the rugged edges of the WC paper. It is done often with WC painting. In fact some artists only paint on rugged edged paper for this purpose. Hopefully you will take a photo for us.
The article on sleep patterns and historical changes is very interesting. Perhaps I am following the sleep patterns of my beloved ancestors.
Hi GG, how is it going? Did I read somewhere that you were planning to get someone to do some of your yard work? Great idea. We are calling in services for heavy yard work, specially for mulching and leaf collecting. A time comes when we must give in and get help. I have already worked twice outside raking the leaves that accumulated in my flower beds during the winter. I also am breaking off last year's flower stalks, etc. We will be calling a service to do the mulching in a week or so.
Today I saw the first bud of a crocus. Maybe tomorrow it will open all the way, then I will be smiling happily.
Ylee, I am envious of your daffodils! Some of my daffodil plants are in buds but no flowers yet! I did see this morning my next door neighbor's daffodils in full bloom! I guess neglect is good for plants, she neglects her plants and I work hard at mine. Interesting.
Sandi, glad that you got your photos back. I hate it when a site that I use is down. All is well that ends well, however.
I'll come and visit your new blog. From the member list, it seems that you have a new blog.
BF, Nat King Cole is one of my favorite singers and the song you posted a favorite as well. Thank you for posting it. The title says it all! Let's face the music and dance... It can be taken literally or figuratively. Often we do have to face the music, don't we? At least I do!
Thank you everyone for stopping by. Time for me to go check the soup that I am making, a 17 bean and barley soup! I have never made it before, hopefully it will taste good. I just did not feel like eating meat tonight! Take care and enjoy life.
