Dandelions and other little seasonal flowers are popping up all over our yard; even some wild mustard! Traditionally, we don't mow until after Easter, because our home is where the family Easter egg hunt is, and we want plenty of hiding places for the eggs! This year, the grass, ect. is taking off, and I'm afraid the eggs won't be able to be seen, so we're going to have to mow soon in order for the grass to grow back to egg-hiding height! :)
I hope this evening finds you well! Take care!
For Jrrtrollkien, Kat, Spathy, Karen, and those visitors whose blogs are closed; lurkers; and all of goodwill who stop by here.
I will soon respond to the new posts from the last blog.
I am listening to the Vivaldi whilst I write this - wonderful!
For each morning in March I have set the alarm for ten minutes before sunrise to see if there was one.... and for each morning I have been disappointed :(
But this morning, the first day of Spring, there is a veritable fire in the sky!
Red sky in the morning - sailors (or shepherds) take warning - Oh, dear!
I am going to process the photos and will bring one back to post here, later:)
As per request by my son, our Friday night dinner was an Italian meal which we capped with English trifle. Delicious and it disappeared faster than I could say, hmmm nice. Yes, the wise thing will be to go on a diet for a while, but I have so many leftovers, what do I do with them if we do not eat them?
I think that I have relaxed enough to go back to bed and hopefully fall asleep. Good night my friend. I'll catch up with your blog as soon as I can.
Good night.
I am so glad you had a great weekend, and having all your family on Sunday was perfect... It was Mothering Sunday :))
I posted my First day of Spring photo in the previous comment box :)
Hope you are sleeping soundly right now - Zzzzzzz
Old Jack Frost is on the run,
Fleeing from the warming sun.
Spring has come to take control,
Encourage growth and to extol
The beauty that each life can bring,
The songs that each voice can sing.
Proserpina is loose again
With warming wind and rinsing rain.
Flowers follow in her train:
Summer's heralds, winter's bane.
I'm so glad your weekend was fabulous! Eat those leftovers with abandon!
Slowly but surely I will make my way to your blog and the new writings. I am sure that your weekend was wonderful and I want to know all about it.
This morning they said in the news that there were at least 3 tornadoes spotted in San Antonio. They did not mention any damages and so I hope that all is well, humanwise at least. Take care.
Bogon, I LOVE your poem! You wrote it, didn't you? You are talented and I appreciate your talent. Do you mind if I put it in the header?
Did you take the photo of the beautiful blooms? If you did please put it on the photo gallery, it deserves to be seen and enjoyed.
Thank you for coming by with such precious gifts.
Hubby just came by the computer to say adios, he is going to play golf. He loves your photo and poem!
Sandi, after I got off the computer I went back to bed and slept. Of course Koko woke me up at 5am, she needed to go out. She has been eating too many goodies from our weekend feasts.
Sandi, I so needed an injection of family. All of it together for a while, and Rain and Aqua alone for the most part. I needed to spend time with the part of the family I had not seen in 4 years! God is good to me.
The photo is another outstanding early morn sky for your series. I just love it and will go visit it in other venues (I assume you have posted it elsewhere as well). You are good my friend.
Ylee, I like the tradition of the egg hunt. It is so much fun for the children as well as for the adults. When younger I used to create works of art, designs of flowers or geometric ones. As I grew older and more involved with work and life, they only got a coat of color. We have not had any egg hunts at my house for several years but I am glad for Easter Egg Hunts of the past.
Our grass is growing fast as well. The problem is that our lawn is so shady that our grass in actually moss dotted with tufts of grass! It does to be mowed but hubby has not given in to the yard work temptation yet!
When I visited your blog this morning, a ship was coming in the harbor (Australia? I do not remember). I love it when the ships come in that spot and quickly disappear.
All right, hubby just left to go play golf, I might go back to bed or continue playing on the blogs. :)
Thank you very much to all of you who stopped by while I was spending time with my family and not blogging. There is nothing like the feeling of being connected to family and friends, even virtual friends.
GG, Calpoppy, Sandi, Ylee, Jrrtrollkien, Bug, Skypony, Mass, Weatheringpoints, Gams, BF, THANK YOU for your comments, graphics, wishes, etc. You are the best.
Weatheringpoints, wonderful to see you.
Jrrtrollkien, thank you for stopping by and welcome to the blog. Yes, I am blessed with family and I give thanks everyday for my loved family.
I'm glad you like the poem. I woke up at four in the morning and discovered you had left me a postcard on my blog. I thought, one good turn deserves another.
My connection to wunderground went wonky just as I pushed the Post button. It took some time to discover that the comment got lost in the ether. I had to submit it again, then I went back to sleep.
The photo is from my gallery, taken last month on my neighbor's pear tree. The poem emerged from my fuddled brain. I schemed for a while to make it longer, then remembered that brevity can be a virtue.
Bogon~ That poem is beautiful:)
The grass is rizz,
I wonder where
The flowers is.
My Mom would say this every Spring.:-)
(...) arranging
a window, into which people look
and
changing everything carefully
spring is like a perhaps
Hand in a window
(...) and
without breaking anything.

Thanks for the crocus, croci!
We have bluebonnets coming up already. Now have to plan a quick road trip to the Hill Country to get my spiritual dose of natural beauty.
The verdant green and pastels of bulbs followed by vibrant flowers. A time when sunshine is golden. This is the time hearts dulled by winter grey begin to sing.
We Welcome Proserpina, We Welcome Our Friend Spring.
As you are not following me around the blogs I am hopeing you, and Koko, are sleeping soundly :)
mom- I am ruined for chicken. No other chicken will ever be acceptable. I could write a poem about my love for that chicken, but it would not quite fit in with the poems about flowers.
That chicken was as lovely as any flower, though. I have told any- and every-one about my personal chicken.
I miss my chicken.
Co-workers said THANK YOU for the blueberry coffee cake, thank you to YOU, and looked at the pic of the triffle (sp) with envy.
I miss the purple grapes, too.
I miss you, RainDad, and Koko. I miss the paintings- but I could walk out the front door and the yard was full of watercolor flowers, too. I miss the bright birds at the birdfeeder, and how the tall trees held their musical calls.
Rain loves the little candies with the peanut on top. He looks silly while he eats them- on purpose, of course.
Thank you for opening the front door and all the other doors, thank you for everything.
(Add: image not current, is from May 24, 2011)
Sorry. The image is not current. It is from last Spring. My attempt at humor. I added a note to that comment.

Remember Juana la loca? I had ordered the recommended film and it arrived today. I will watch the movie Friday night when I will have more free time. It should be interesting.
Hi BF. Cool humor! eecummings was more talented than I used to give him credit for. I have learned to respect his work and certainly enjoy it. Excellent choice for a spring poem.
Aqua, you are so nice! It was our pleasure to have you and Rain here and to get to know you a little better. Yes, the chicken was an Aqua chicken! I cooked it just for you in case you did not want to eat the other Italian fare. Actually the chicken was cooked in a Sicilian cooking style but it is similar to American recipes.
I cooked the other bunch of rapini and ate half last night and half tonight. I feasted on them! We are still munching on the ham and other left-over foods. If blueberry coffee cakes traveled well I'd make another one and mail it to you, but I do not think that it would arrive in any edible shape.
If we do come for Thanksgiving I might be able to bring one with me, or not. It is up to the security people at the airport.
Love you and Rain, mom.
Sandy, spring has certainly sprung! I like your photo and poem. You do a great job with photo creating.
GG, you create with your poetic words. Please let us know about your trip to the hill country, I would love some photos!
Kat, hi sweets. I hope that you are still enjoying your little trip to the farm.
Hello Skypony!
Bogon, your mind is not fuddled! Not at all! That's one beautiful poem, and beautifully written. I am in awe of all of the talented people on WU, especially writers.
I am a fan of Am. Idol, so guess what I will be doing tonight? At the same time I will be doing a couple of crossword puzzles. Have a good evening everyone.
ADD:
Shore, I just found this page on Donna, written by Donnie. I think that you will find it interesting.

Prose,
An iris update. Bright sun yesterday before the clouds did their thing.
Do you see both buds? Total bud count so far, nine.
Have a great day.
:)
Germano Lo Presti, a Librizzese, took these beautiful photos and gave them to my cousin Meluccio to place on his blog. I in turn got permission to post them here.
Grazie mille Signor Lo Presti!
The area where the houses are seen in the valley is also Librizzi, it is the area where the town is expanding, while the historical part is crumbling into oblivion. Sad as the town holds so much history, not just of the town but of the Island itself as well.
Now - on to brighter things. The Librizzi rainbow is beautiful! I still think that's one of the most lovely towns in the world. And it's an amazing photo.
I have to agree, it is a beautiful town, at least the vistas from the town. It is disgraceful that the current local administration refused to restore the town or do any upkeep, unless it is the section below in the valley. On the other hand, I guess it is the cycle of towns and lives. Forever changing, forever dying, to hopefully be reborn is some form or other.
I am on my way out to go to the mall. I need to return an outfit that I ordered on line and lovely as it is, it doesn't fit me well. While at the mall, maybe I will find some other outfits that will fit better. I need something to wear to my brother's 70th celebration. See you later.
Take care and have a wonderful weekend:)
It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain
You've had a busy week! Hope you'll get some quality downtime this weekend!
Love the Twain quote. It's true, isn't it?
Sadly, my allergy issues this past 3 years or so have pretty much ruined spring for me. It has always been my favorite time of year.
I'm so happy you, Raindad, Aqua and Rain all had what sounds like a wonderful visit!
Hope this finds you doing well.
Happy Spring!
Buttercups and daisies!!
Hope you are OK- I am having a very relaxing time:)

I have to admit it did get a bit chilly last night but our high today is still supposed to be around 80.
Sandi, your photo sure is the quintessential spring photo, buttercups and daisies!
I hope that you are having a super time and that the fog is long gone. I am looking forward to the stories and photos.
It has been a busy spell for me. First the visit from loved ones, then a shopping spree for Proserpina (tons of clothes and shoes), a birthday celebration for our older son. And the non-fun part, I left this morning before 7:30 am and got back a little while ago. I had the car serviced, a battery replaced, and whatever needed to be done to fix a recall problem. I hate it when I have to spend four or more hours at the car service place, and spend over an hour in travel time.
I did bring a book and a crossword puzzle but it gets boring when you have to do it!
Tomorrow is another fun day, eye doctor and then dentist!
WatchinTheSky, what a beautiful photo of a beautiful flower. I have no idea what the flower is but it is the right color (I love lavender). Thank you so much for visiting and leaving such a wonderful gift for my senses.
Hi Ylee, the weekend was fine as it included a belated birthday celebration. I did have to cut short the celebration at the restaurant as I got sick. The rest of the guests stayed and enjoyed their meals and chat. I had asked hubby to go by himself but he would not go without me so I ventured out, but only for a short while.
I hope that you and loved ones are well.
BF, have any on the iris buds opened yet? I hope you will post some photos of the open buds. Here, everything else seems to have bloomed early but not the Iris! I still have some Daffodils in bloom but most have 'passed away', the Tulips are doing just fine, as are the Grape Hycinths and assorted other flowers. Redbuds are in full bloom and the flowers of the Dogwoods are 90% unfurled. Even the Azaleas are ready to burst into flame!
Thank you everyone for vising and leaving your wonderful offerings. Have a lovely rest of the day.
My roses are all happy though. This is from my potted shrub rose.
These blooms smell amazing.
I do rave when I see beautiful flowers!
Redbud, four days ago. Today leaves are forming and the blooms are not as fresh.
Counted fifteen iris buds yesterday. One flower is peeking out like it will be open soon. The row of plants is between two brick buildings and receives noon sun only, so I hope they have enough sun to bloom well.
Have a good eve!
Fifteen buds for you, zero for me (so far). Each new flower that blooms is my favorite! I do think though, that my very favorite spring flower is the iris. I love to paint them, over and over again.
Talking of painting, today I put the final touches on a little painting that I plan on gifting. It will go to a relative so I do not want to say much about it. I may put up a photo of the painting once I give it away. I can say that it is not a flower!
Thank you for the wonderful photo and for stopping by. Hope all is well with you.
Oh, my. I've missed so much beauty by not stopping by here - all of the flowers are just beautiful. We're a little short of blooms this year. The drought really did a number on things like azaleas - so many of the magnificent bushes look very much like Sandi's hedge. They'll have to be dug out and replanted. They were telling people to treat them like the trees - to wait until spring was in full flush, to see what was growing and what truly was dead. So, now we see!
It's funny - one of my friends in east Texas had all of her red and fuschia azaleas die, but the white ones survived. She thought she might go all white, just in case.
I have a painting coming to me! It's not a flower, either - but something that you know from a photograph. I'll wait until it gets here and I can take a picture of it. The little cardinal is already here, and she's beautiful. I got her back from my friend's frame shop last week. I need to take a picture of her, too.
Have you ever seen the Victorian "yard-longs"? They're generally chromolithographs, narrow and long, although not necessarily 36". I have a couple I was going to get rid of, one by Paul de Longpré. Then, I went on ebay and etsy to see what they were selling for. The de Longpré original is listed at a minimum of $240, and one just sold for $380. I think I need to rethink this. ;) I don't want to go to the trouble of ebay, but I might list them on etsy. I love his work, but a little clearing out is in order.
Here's a link to the one I have, of his roses.
We call this wild mustard, but after I uploaded it, minou WU-mailed me and said it was butterweed!
This is one of the three blooms that our little magnolia had this year. Last year it was seven feet tall, but a hard freeze after the leaves came out killed most of it, and all we have is a few 18 inch saplings!
I'm sorry you wre sickened at the resturant. Good that Raindad stayed by your side! Hope you are feeling better!
Actually I got sick before I went to the restaurant but hubby gave me the choice of going with him or neither one of us would go. So I went, sat at the end of the table next to hubby so that I did not make anyone else sick. Could not eat anything except the ginger I brought with me. Yes, I ordered something bland (the waiter had to earn his $)but I stared at the food with a bit of revulsion. We left early and everyone else stayed to enjoy their meals and chats. I am ok, earlier in the day I must have eaten something that did not agree with me.
I am going back to bed and hopefully I will fall asleep this second try at sleep. Good night Ylee.
Shore, I'll write you a note tomorrow after my two appointments.
My problem is I probably slept too long yesterday!
I should be still asleep as I have a long journey home today.... but as I have been awake for over an hour and the alarm is set to go off in another hour or so... I may as well stay awake!!
More flowers.... a "bunch" of tulips enjoying the sun on the top of the West Cliff in Whitby!
What a joy to see all the lovely flowers. Spring is late in arriving here, as we had an inch of snow as recently as the 22nd. Primroses and a few small, shy pansies are the only ones brave enough to show their faces. Even the crocuses are refusing to open.
So glad that you are well enough to visit around. Have you started the official physical therapy yet? Is hubby still taking good care of you? I hope so.
It seems that you have had a more normal winter and beginning of spring. Just visualize the beauty that is coming in your area as soon as nature wakes up.
Sandi, I just want to recline in the midst of those beautiful tulips! They are gorgeous and plentiful, a yellow feast for the eyes and senses. I really should take a ride up the road and visit the park to see large areas of spring flowers in bloom. I am so lazy!
I will check your blog in a short while to see if you are back home yet safely in bed getting your beauty rest.
I had a busy morning and part of the afternoon, necessary appointments but no fun! In mid afternoon I went up the street to take photos of pretty things that are growing in my neighbors yards.
Tomorrow morning I get a little rest from chores and appointments and then I am going for a hair cut and color. Thursday is another trip to my 'favorite' place in Baltimore!
Shore, so sorry about the Texas drought last year and the resulting lack of the usual flowers. So sad about the azaleas. I wonder if the white azaleas are the Delaware variety, they do grow well in dry places. At least my white Delaware Azaleas grow well for me. Over the years we have planted lots of special varieties of azaleas, from yellow to lavender dwarfs to huge sizes and unusual shapes of blooms, but the Delaware and the Mother's Day Azaleas are the ones which come back year after year after year.
Isn't it fun to buy a new piece of art? At least I think so. I would like to see photos of your new art items. I am not familiar with the work of Paul de Longpre', yet when I went to the site the prints seemed familiar. Good luck with the bidding on etsy. I have never bought nor sold anything on ebay nor etsy, but my husband likes the game of bidding on ebay. I guess it is a challenge. He has bought a few golf items in this manner only to discard them and get the real good stuff from reliable golf stores.
I will be busy for the next several days, so I'll be peeking at the blogs occasionally but more than likely I will not be able to post anything. We'll see.
HAVE A WONDERFUL EVENING AND REST OF THE WEEK EVERYONE!
Have a nice day!
:)
