Veteran's Day.

People Sleep Peacefully in Their Beds at Night Only Because Rough Men Stand Ready to Do Violence on Their Behalf

I feel compelled to post a blog honoring our Veterans for their service to our country. Serving in the military is not an easy way to make a fortune...in fact, for many it is hard just to make ends meet. Sometimes is is a thankless job, especially in modern times, when mass media and instant communication make it so easy to criticize and second guess. In my heart, however, I feel that it is one of the most honorable of professions. I am fortunate enough to have many friends and family spanning generations who have served and they are the most honorable and selfless individuals I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with.

So...even though my words are lacking, if you are a Vet, or are currently serving, I hope you will understand how much I appreciate you and respect you for all that you have done for us.

Tommy
by Rudyard Kipling

I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:

O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.

Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.

We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;

While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind",
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind.

You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

Quoting RobDaHood:
Indeed!
I'm concerned what could happen if he shakes or drops that massive stainless container! Somewhat Significant Shards of Shrapnel smashing into something or someone somewhen surely!

If he has managed to mutate that milk and convert the chocolate and it starts to coalesce in the coffee, well...I'm sure you understand. (It was your idea after all and I have no idea where I'm going with it...)

Anyway...it could corrode the containment vessel (or was it wessel...maybe weasel) I don't know what would result, but I don't think it portends a pretty picture.

(sorry about the tongue)

No your'e not....
If you were, you would not have posted that...

Have you any idea what it feels like to bite your tongue where you bit your tongue when you bit your tongue the last time you bit your tongue?
Now, it's bitten and twisted.
Mangled, Masticated, Magnificently Munched and Magnanimously Mauled.

Holy mutilated, torn, lacerated, wounded, injured, crippled, maimed, rended, disfigured, cut, slit, butchered, slashed, sliced, carved, and bruised mouth didgit Pottery, that sounds dread. :)

OK, time to go. I have to go give three more vials of my blood to my Primary Doctor's vampire nurse this morning.

They certainly seem to be overly interested in my blood lately. He is aware of course that I haven't had a sore throat, a cold, or the Flu in 21 years.

You don't suppose he's selling it to some big pharmecutial company to develope some kind of Flu shot do you?

Shouldn't I be getting some kind of royalty payments for that sort of thing?

Maybe I should check into that possibility. :)

See you later.
