WEATHER NEWS

Thousands of people in the east of England have been told to evacuate their homes and move treasured possessions to higher ground before tomorrow morning in advance of a devastating storm surge.

Some 10,000 homes and businesses will be affected, according to the Environment Agency, which has issued seven severe flood warnings for people living on the Norfolk and Suffolk coast near Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

Environment Secretary Hilary Benn warned the Commons of a potential serious flooding risk on the east coast in the next 48 hours.

Gordon Brown tonight convened Cobra, the emergency panel of government officials, to anticipate the floods.

Sea levels will surge to three metres above usual tidal levels as a result of north-westerly winds and a pocket of low pressure. The wind, which the Met Office predicts will blow up to 60mph, will funnel water from the wider part of the North Sea in the north to the narrower part in the south, causing a build-up that will arrive on the Norfolk coast between 7am and 9am tomorrow. The winds will be compounded by low pressure, which causes sea levels to rise. If pressure decreases by one millibar, the sea level rises by one centimetre.

Looks like Mexico has til the 1st of the year to defend their food sovereignty & prevent thier food culture from being rolled under by GM big ag.

I love the protest by planting corn everywhere. Good luck, it's certainly worth the fight. No matter how hindered by all the recent flooding.

Morning all:)

Yeah Wabit that tooth of mine said....ssleeeepp.

Jeff e-mailed me back. I thought that article was off. It made it sould like NOAA was just making it public. Apparently the guys got awards of bravery & that's how it's come up again. He past along this article.

Aquak9~ Nice to see that has got vetoed. Looked like it was expected to be by yesterdays article. Christ has suprised me. Forcing FPL to make the solar plant was another good one. Good for the everglades & all the other projects. To think we are above taking care of our water sources is foolish.

Quick look at the weather news looks pretty boring. No active storms & the news is all how to get ready for winter & the dangers of aphiciation from Carbon Monoxide.

off to play

Hi Skyepony,
Hi Rainman, Aqua and everybody else...

Mia and I would like to thank you for your help and support on Thursday night. There are still flood warnings active for our area, but there is no immediate danger to lives or property. It has been a tense 48 hours and knowing that you are all here has been a BIG boost!

Many, many thanks from the bottom of our hearts, take care one and all,
Papsis
