Happy Halloween! At the end is my scariest bug and one of my favorites.
Not much is going on these days.
The tomatoes planted in August are starting to produce. The summer squash plants are thriving as well as the luffa. The luffa plant did not like the extremely hot weather this summer and did not bloom. Once the temps broke and we had rain, the luffa plant has gone into overdrive. Now if a freeze will hold off till December. It will probably happen sooner, but I can hope.
The lemon tree has started to bloom again.
Now, I have to decide whether or not to put the greenhouse back up.
We have had decent rain this fall but need so much more. My remote rain gauge keeps breaking down for one reason or another, so I don't have an accurate rainfall count. Time to go get an old style rain gauge.

Pardon the umbrella. Finally geting a decent thunderstorm here.
One of my favorive garden bugs, the Assassin Bug. This one is on a luffa leaf.
First heavy frost on the season. The ice crystals were growing out.

Here's a post showing projected totals. It looks like you're going to do better than we will, but so what? Any place in the state that gets rain now is all to the good - if you get it, we'll be happy, and then you can be happy for us if it ever shows up down here! LOL
And yes, I will be happy for you to get some rain and cooler temps!
Your garden should be looking good soon.
Perhaps we will get some more rain soon. Seems like a late frost date would be in line with the summer, then again if God really hates the red states, we will get an early frost and destroy any chances of late season crops and trees recovering before going dormant (or dying).
How Bout Nelson Cruz slugging one to the stands with a goose egg on his wrist to finish the game?

Yeah, it would almost be par for the course if we get an early freeze. Well, at least my cover crop will have a chance.
Looks like the Rangers need another dramatic come-back tonight. Cruze is pretty awesome!
I'm heading up to Minnesota tomorrow - not far north, but far enough that the lows are going to be in the 40s. I was smart enough to bring long pants and a sweater - I think I'm going to need them!
We are getting more rain…whoo hoo!!!
It is funny how connections can be made without trying. I believe you wrote something about that not too long ago. To add to that, my oldest son - who is still in high school - while discussing career possibilities came up with grave digger.
Stay safe and warm shore.
My lawn looks like it's pretty self again. Most of the dead spots are filling in with the cooler weather, more watering and above all fresh rain.
I see the drought monitor in your blog shows this week's update. Can see some improvement compared with this one from Sept. 20, 2011...
Improvement happening N of Red River also. Oklahoma's exceptional drought has decreased from 70% of the land in mid-August to about 43% this week.
With a little luck, we'll get some more rain early next week.
Have a good night!
