Our First Trip to the Rail Trail
Yesterday my husband, son and I went out to the Saginaw Valley rail trail for the first time this year. The weather was perfect for riding with our high temp at 46F and fairly light winds. The trail is 9 miles one way going from St Charles, MI to Saginaw. We generally ride the full length, then turn around and go back. As we approached the end in Saginaw, my husband got a flat tire. No, we had no patch kit with us. So my son and I rode all the way back to St. Charles which took 45 minutes, loaded the bikes, and set out to pick my husband up at the other end of the trail. Easy? Of course not! It took us another 45 minutes just to find the other end of the trail via road. So after driving where we thought we should go, and asking directions twice, we finally found it. It was 13 miles by road to that destination. Yes, we will always have a patch kit with us from now on.
Yesterday was the beginning of 3-4 days of absolutely gorgeous weather. Today we will see sun again with our high reaching the low 50's. The next 4 days should be sunny with increasing temps each day and reaching the 60's by Wednesday. You just don't get much better than that in March in Michigan. The end of the week will turn a little cooler by still not too bad.
I'm happy to see our southern neighbors finally getting some much needed rain. An internet friend of mine lives near San Antonio, TX and was very concerned about the dry spell and the fires developing from the heat and lack of humidity that they've had for so long.
