Greyhound Bus Slaying Case Heard In Court

The case of Vince Li, the man accused of the murder of Tim McLean on a Greyhound bus in July, came before a Portage la Prairie judge this afternoon.
Li himself was not in the courtroom as he is receiving care at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. His defence attorneys requested that the results of his psychiatric assessment not be disclosed with the public. Defence Attorney Gordon Bates says disclosing the information would be prejudicial and may taint the jury pool, should the case go to trial.

Bates says his client is fit to stand trial and has been cooperative with his attorneys and with medical staff treating him while he undergoes his assessment. The defence says the assessment is ongoing and they will know more as time goes on.

The next court date has been set for November 6th at the Portage la Prairie Court of Queen's Bench.
