Heat Wave, Major Storms
Posted by: snowpointsecret, 21:52 GMT le 29 juin 2012 +0
It's probably a big thing to start with for a first entry but this isn't exactly a normal weather pattern.

The heat continued here in Dayton, Ohio, today, although the high "only" reached 99 degrees compared to the June record set yesterday of 102. We may have come close to that 102 if it wasn't for the line of severe thunderstorms that formed over northeastern Indiana earlier in the day. By the time the storms reached this area, they were moving at around 75 mph.

Wind gusts peaked at 82 mph at the Dayton International Airport, and there seems to be widespread damage throughout the area. The tattoo at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base had enough damage, including bending of the main stage, to cancel the event. The Cityfolk Festival is apparently cancelled for tonight as well. Widespread tree and some roof and power line damage is common.

Luckily, at my location, only a few large branches seem to be down, and power never went out although it flickered a few times. It also lowered the temperature to a more comfortable 70 degrees. I wish that would last, but 90+ degree temperatures seem to be lasting for days to come around here. Hopefully we won't have any more wind than we had today.
