If you have a veteran - give 'em a hug.
If you know a veteran who served & survived Guadalcanal - give him a hug, make him a meal, pour him a drink & let him know how grateful many of us are for his service. They suffered terribly for all of us.

According to statistics released by the Veteran’s Administration, our World War II vets are dying at a rate of 900 a day (previous studies listed 1,200 but the number has declined due to a decrease in the total number of World War veterans). This means that there were approximately 16,000,000 veterans at the end of the war and there are just under 2,000,000 still with us today. From the National WWII Museum

My own WWII vet is now in Arlington National Cemetery. I thank him & all his comrades, past & present for their service. Say a prayer, hoist a salute for those who served OUR country & her citizens - especially on this day.
