Sorry for no updates as I have started a website and I have been working on it.

Above Da Bridge Weather

A warmup is in store for the week with a cool down for the weekend. The pattern ahead looks very stormy with a southwest flow aloft. We will likely be dealing with a snowstorm on Monday into Tuesday and possibly another one at the end of next week.

Winter Forecast!

Well, summer 2010 has passed, and Fall is quickly speeding towards winter. We are now into November, which has the greatest temperature changed of all months in the year. The average temperature on November first is around 37.5F, and by November 30th the average temperature is 23.5F.

This winter forecast was a hard one to make. La Nina Analog years were plentiful, but many matched poorly to the weather pattern we have had this Summer and Fall. The best Analog years I found are 1966-67, 1970-71, 1973-74, 1983-84, and 1998-99. However the year that matched the current Fall weather pattern the best was 1996. 1998 also came in second, even though the jetstream pattern was much different in October 1998 than 1966. The trend I noticed in most La Nina years was that October was mild, and November became progresively colder leading to a snowy winter. Winters were snowiest about 2/3rds in, however 2007 was an exception as there was no blockin high pressure over Greenland which allowed for a active early winter storm track in the Great Lakes that gave Wisconsin and Lower Michigan record snows.
