Hey their guys.I thought I'd be interesting to know what it was like for poeple on this blog growing up in the 80's.I personally know it's a 10 years i'll never forget.I came in the decade 10,and got out of it 19.i can remember the weird fashion/hair styles(that most kids will laugh at now a days).I remember when Micheal Jackson,Madonna, and Prince were houshold names.U2 was out and going(which by the way is my fav rock band of all time).Of course their was also tragic events like with the space shuttle incident that morning in Florida(I rememeber watching it on T.V inside our school audotorium). So what was it like for you growing up in the 80's???.Feel free to comment :).

I was living in Cape Canaveral when Challenger blew up, and saw it first hand. Outside of my druggie coworkers who wanted to have a party(morons), the entire area was in a state of shock. Going home from work, driving up A1A in Cocoa Beach, the streets were nearly empty, when normally it was rush hour.

I think the 80's represented the last major shift in popular music, switching over to synthesisers and digital recording and mixing. Today's music may be more refined and complex than 25 years ago, but not fundamentally different.

I was born December 4, 1980, so um 10 years younger I guess?

I do vaguely remember Challenger, but I was just a kid and didn't really understand what was happening.

I was born in the last year of the 80's, so I don't much about the 80's only what I read. I like the songs and the artist from the 80's they were very good...Bob Marley although he died early in the 80's but he music still lives on, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, lionel richie...etc

Wash.. Guess I am a little late to this blog ... Growing up in the 1980's..I guess I am around your age ..I am in my mid 30's . U2 was the greatest and the best loved songs by them to me are bad , Pride , Sunday bloody sunday . REM this one goes out to the one I loved .. The stone roses if you ever heard of them were class ..were the momeorable ones for me . I also loved Prince especially when doves cry, purple rain and sign o'the times .. Of course there was also Guns and roses and Bon Jovi was partial to them as well.there was also an awful amount of terrible music ie culture club and others I have tried to forget .

I remember staying up late to see who shot JR lol .. Do you remember the terrible shoulder pad fashion eek!!I remember the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.and the 1986 soccer world cup

But the end of the 1980's was massive in european terms were the iron curtain came out .Germany unified.

Hope you dont mind me calling by I just noticed your blog in the members section now.

I was just a kid in the later part of the 80s but U2 by far is absolutely my favorite band of all time. I think I own every CD including imports that they released. Yup thats right CDs when they were still cool :) I have to give mad props to the Cosby show also. Ahh good times.
