==Discussion==
a Colorado low is poised to hit southern Saskatchewan today and
tonight, bringing with it the first major snowfall of the season.
Heavy, wet snow is expected to begin falling this morning in areas
near the international border, and will move northward throughout the
day. By this evening, 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected to have fallen
in and around Regina, Moose jaw and the assiniboia region. A further
10 cm or so is possible overnight, bringing totals into the 20 to
25 cm range, with the highest amounts expected near the international
border around coronach and rockglen.
The eastward extent of the snowfall will be marked by an abrupt
changeover to rain. This rain/snow boundary is expected to be just
west of the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border, although this may move
somewhat throughout the event.
This system is slow-moving and is expected to affect areas farther
north, such as the quill lakes and possibly Yorkton, primarily
overnight tonight. As well, the snow may end up going a bit farther
west than previously anticipated. For these reasons, we have
extended the Winter Storm Watch to the Humboldt, Swift Current,
outlook and Shaunavon regions.
The bulk of the heavy snowfall is expected to end by Monday morning.
A Winter Storm Watch is an alert of the potential development of
severe winter weather. Persons in or near these areas should be
prepared for developing adverse weather conditions and should listen
for updated watches and possible warnings.
Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.
