Most cars turned back, only pick-up trucks were taking the risk, except for the odd adventurer1

You've really had the wet stuff lately!!!...calls to mind the old adage, 'when it rains, it pours'...meaning it's too much already, please stop now...

Yes whenever it rains heavily leaves will wash and block the drains, this results in flash floods that will drain away quickly when the leaves are removed. Lickily for Phuket all flood water drains quickly into the sea so we don't have the same problems that central Thailand are having at the moment.

About Dawnlisa
Dawnlisa Hi! My name is Dawn, I run a restaurant on Bon Island in Phuket, Thailand. It's a wonderful little island, so whan I have the time I like to catch it's beauty with my Nokia N82. The weather here can be quite dramatic, anything from a beautiful sunny day to a violent tropical storm. The island is very rocky and rises high above sea-level, which was a major factor in protecting us from the 2004 Tsunami disaster. The photo you see here was taken on the beach at Bon Island just three days after Tsunami hit Phuket, the beach was beautifully clean and the sea the clearest we had ever seen, sadly the coral reef got very badly damaged and now, three years later we are starting to see it's recovery along with the return of many little fish. I feel very safe here on the Island and wouldn't choose to be anywhere else! Create your own visitor map!
