The closest planet Earth, which in the night sky is now in a spectacular conjunction of Jupiter, it will go before crossing the Sun June 6, 2012 and can be expected of scientific sensationalism - because astronomers are hoping that the study will provide the key transit data to study the worlds orbiting distant stars.
