Thank you Charlotte, Eileen, and Donna. I can only partially explain - it's the somewhat wavy surface of the pond (and no weather aspect) speckled with pollen, reflecting the sun. It shows an area about 3ft square and about 8ft from the camera. The sun fooled the camera into underexposing. But I can't explain why the four flashes seem to form a circle. There could have been a drip from overhanging branches, or a slight disturbance caused by an insect or fish, but that doesn't really explain it to me. In all the thousands of similar shots I've taken I've never gotten that effect. I wish I did know....
