Thank you for your nice comments! However, I do have a correction on the butterfly ID. This is an Aphrodite Fritillary not a Great Spangled. Thank you BAMONA for the clarification!

I just checked out their range and you're right. They are sometimes in the northwest Carolinas and Georgia, but that's about as far south as they go.

Excellent shot! Last weekend I went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science (www.hmns.org) and visited the Butterfly exhibit. Most of the butterflies were constantly on the move and hard to catch still long enough to get a clear shot.
