Smoke from the High Park wildfire drifted over the Laramie Valley today, obscuring long distance views. Only the disc of the setting sun reveals the ridge line of the Snowy Range as it set, turning the sky an spooky blood red.

It is almost perverse that smoke can create such a nice picture when we know that the fire is causing damage to vegetation and animals not too far away.

About turbguy
turbguy I've recently retired to Laramie, Wyoming from back east. Most of the shots I show are taken as I and my dog hike in the prairies. SEE MY STEREO (3D) SHOTS! See my blog on this site for viewing instructions. Search for the word "STEREO" in photo titles on this site to see them all! All photos were taken with a Nikon Point-and-Shoot, a Coolpix 7600. It's amazing how good the results can be from such a simple camera! Most shots here (and MANY more) can be seen on my flickr account, at http://www.flickr.com/photos/turbguy/ Create your own visitor map!
