A submerged turtle decided to surface and study me for a while, while I was studying him in return.

Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting — a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thanks, and thanks!

Sure, go crazy...

At first, I just saw this void grazing the surface, not breaking the surface of the water, but just pushing the floating ick to either side. All of a sudden, he just floated up a little bit so that his shell broke the surface, and then his head poked up, and he just started staring directly at me, not even blinking.

I wish it were a better shot, but he was pretty far away, and I had to crop-zoom pretty much to get him to be bigger than just a small dot. :D

And this was after like 3½ cups of coffee for brunch. :D

Many turtles are like your turtle, Gene. They really like to make eye contact with other species! It's amazing!

The one from Hidden was like that, too. Even underwater, he just *stared* unblinkingly for the duration.

Cute little critter!

And thanks²! I just wish he would've come closer in for a better shot. Or maybe he was just camera-shy. :D

What a perfect thought to go with this photo, a true 'cup of blessing.'

I think your shot of Hidden is downright ... bizarre. Nightmare stuff!

Thanks!

But the critter was just so cute, staring at me from underwater, not blinking, barely moving at all.

Great shot ! Isn't it interesting when animals take interest in us as much as we do in them ? DB

That's sort of unusual that it took an interest in you....I have seen plenty turn tail and run,,same with frogs,,but, once in a while...you get 'lucky'.."" Notice how the green surrounds the 'BLACK'! of the ubiqitous shell of this creature.....??LOL

I'm just that kinda guy. Turtles love me. :D

Yah, definitely, put up some pix.

And oh yeah, you don't have to tell *me* twice. Something like 2400 people per year are killed by turtles, just in the US alone...
