Found another one inside the fenced utility area where at least it was safe from the dogs, if not from snakes, which might be hiding under the piles of lumber and other such items. Sure wish they'd have stayed in their nest until they were a bit more feathered out!

Donna, they grow so fast that if he can stay alive just two or three days, he will feather out nicely and should be all right. Thanks for your comment and your concern!

Thanks, Eileen! I still hear them out there this morning, so some are alive at least!

Some of these little cuties get pushed out of the nest by stronger siblings, in order to get even more of the food resources for an even stronger start in life. Bummer! Good shot of this one.

If you keep them warm, and feed them a warm mash of cat food, hard boiled eggs, finely crushed egg shells, and maybe some ground cooked chicken or beef, applesauce, carrot puree, they'll do just fine. I've used a sock filled with rice that I microwaved a few minutes, then wrapped in a towel, and put the bird near it. Not too hot! Mockingbirds figure out quick who's there to feed them. Best, though, if you've got the time and there's a wild bird rescue center near you.

Otherwise, there will be happy snakes. And sad as that may be for these little guys, that's a good thing too.

Nice series!

Thank you all for your comments! EndlessHorizon, since all three of the little birds were out of the nest with apparently nothing forcing them, and since the parents were both present and feeding the young, I judged that the less interference on my part, the better.
