... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 am EST
Wednesday...

* locations... the southern Adirondacks... and the Lake George
Saratoga region.

* Hazard types... freezing rain and sleet... mixing with snow at
times.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... 1 to 4 inches... greatest across
higher elevations of the southern Adirondacks.

* Ice accumulations... a trace to one tenth of an inch with some
locally higher amounts possible over the western Adirondacks.

* Timing... a mix of sleet... freezing rain and snow will continue
through much of the overnight hours. Some plain rain may occur
initially. Precipitation will alternate between precipitation
types. Precipitation intensity will decrease after
midnight... and taper off to drizzle or freezing drizzle toward
daybreak.

* Impacts... ice and snow covered roadways will make for hazardous
travel. Untreated walkways... driveways and sidewalks will be
very slippery. Isolated to scattered power outages are possible
in areas that receive the most significant freezing rain.

* Winds... east 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... falling into the upper 20s to lower 30s this
evening... then holding steady or rising slightly through the
lower 30s toward daybreak.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

... Freezing rain will expand across the region through the evening
commute...

Rain and freezing rain, occasionally mixed with sleet, is
currently occurring across the southern Adirondacks, the Lake
George Saratoga region, the capital region, eastern Catskills and
helderbergs. Temperatures are expected to fall another couple of
degrees through the evening commute, allowing areas of freezing
rain to become more widespread.

Untreated ground surfaces which are currently wet are expected to
become ice covered during the evening commute. Motorists and
pedestrians are strongly advised to use extra caution if driving
or walking through this evening.

Bridges and elevated Road surfaces, Highway on and off ramps,
less traveled secondary roads, and also parking lots, sidewalks
and driveways will be particularly susceptible to ice formation
through early this evening.
