Issued: 19:12 EDT Aug. 26, 2016 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 915 PM EDT for
southeastern Hamilton... northwestern Hancock... northwestern
Johnson... northern Morgan... southeastern Hendricks and Marion
counties...

At 710 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain and thunderstorms
across the warned area. Storms were moving slowly east and were
aligned from Fishers south-southwest across the eastern Indianapolis
Metro to near Greenwood. Storms have weakened slightly since 645 PM.

Flash flooding is already occurring with numerous roads flooded
across the Indianapolis Metro area. Indianapolis International
Airport has received 1.82 inches of rain since 6 PM.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Indianapolis... Carmel... Fishers... Greenwood... Lawrence...
Plainfield... Brownsburg... Beech Grove... Speedway... Mooresville...
Danville... Southport... Avon... Cumberland... McCordsville...
Meridian Hills... Brooklyn... Warren Park... Clermont and Monrovia.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and
underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
