Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 15:50 CST Jan. 17, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Watch out for slippery roads tonight...

Through 7 PM, a light wintry mix of snow... sleet... freezing
rain... and rain will move southeast across southwest Wisconsin and
parts of northeast Iowa. This wintry mix may cause a light icing on
untreated roads and sidewalks.

In addition to the light wintry mix... fog will occasionally reduce
visibilities to a quarter mile or less across northeast
Iowa... southeast Minnesota... and on the ridge tops in western
Wisconsin early this evening.

As temperatures fall into the 20s tonight... any standing water and
slush will freeze. This could result in some roads and sidewalks
becoming icy again.

... Untreated secondary and less traveled roads will remain slick
this afternoon...

While the main roads will have a few slippery spots... the main
concern for travel this afternoon will be the untreated secondary
and less travel roads which will remain ice covered and hazardous
until they are treated.

In addition to the icy roads... fog will occasionally reduce
visibilities to a quarter mile or less across northeast
Iowa... southeast Minnesota... and on the ridge tops in western
Wisconsin this afternoon.

As temperatures fall into the 20s tonight... any standing water and
slush will freeze. This will add another icy element to the
already hazardous travel.
