Wind Advisory
Issued: 07:44 PST Feb. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory in effect until noon PST today...

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect until noon PST today.

* Winds and timing: 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph this morning.
Winds diminish this afternoon.

* Locations include: generally higher elevations west of the
Cascades. Sexton pass and other nearby passes on Interstate
5... Illinois Valley... Ashland... Hills surrounding the rogue and
Umpqua valleys... and most valleys oriented southwest to
northeast.

* Impacts: travel will become difficult for lightweight and high
profile vehicles. Loose objects may be blown around or lost.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected with
higher gusts possible. Winds this strong can make driving
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra
caution.

Gale Warning, Gale Watch
Issued: 02:55 PST Feb. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Gale Warning now in effect until noon PST today...
... Gale watch remains in effect from late tonight through Tuesday
morning...

* winds... S 20 to 30 kt with gusts around 40 kt through this
morning. Winds will decrease briefly this afternoon then
increase to 20 to 30 kt with gusts around 40 kt early Tuesday
morning.

* Waves... 13 to 16 ft around 15 seconds and W around 7 feet at 8
seconds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels... should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased... but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
